Job Overview:
We’re designing modern building operations with cloud-based, automated property technology. Our open, non-proprietary hardware and advanced API integrations give organizations the flexibility to build truly smart, efficient, and secure spaces. From access control, video, and visitor management to sub-meter billing and on-demand HVAC, Genea powers intelligent building experiences for thousands of companies worldwide.
As a Product Designer II, you'll have complete features from conception to launch, working independently on well-defined problems. You'll leverage visual design excellence while expanding capabilities in UX research, prototyping, and systems thinking. You'll collaborate closely with your squad to ship high-quality features and contribute meaningfully to Genea's design system.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end design for features: research, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI across platforms.
- Lead user research, gather facts, usability tests, journey mapping, and analytics analysis.
- Design sophisticated visual systems including typography, color, iconography, illustrations, and micro-interactions.
- Contribute components and patterns to the design system with documentation and usage guidelines.
- Partner with engineers throughout development, providing detailed specs, edge cases, and design support.
- Facilitate design workshops, present work to stakeholders.
Skills & Qualifications
- 3+ years of product design experience with portfolio showcasing shipped features and visual excellence.
- Strong proficiency in Figma includes advanced auto layout, components, variants, auto-layout, prototyping and understanding of design system.
- Expert understanding of typography, color theory, layout systems, and visual design principles.
- Ability to apply AI tools while maintaining strong human-centered judgment.
- Solid understanding of user research methods, usability principles, and platform-specific design.
- Experience designing for accessibility, responsive layouts, and component-based design systems.
- Ability to work independently, present design rationale clearly, and collaborate with technical teams.
- Good to have: Basic knowledge of motion design, illustration, iconography, or front-end development.
