About the Role:
As a Product Owner on the Abacus Platform Product Management team, you will lead the development of automation capabilities that enhance client delivery efficiency. This role is central to driving DevOps maturity, orchestrating delivery workflows, and productizing automation features to reduce manual effort required to deploy and integrate Abacus solutions, while accelerating implementation timelines.
You will collaborate across product and client engineering, client solutions and delivery to define and execute a roadmap that integrates automation, orchestration, and DevOps principles into delivery and customization of our data solutions. Your primary customers are Client Engineering and Client Delivery with the opportunity to extend automation efficiencies to the broader Product Engineering teams. Your day to day:
- Identify high-friction client delivery processes and lead their transformation into productized and automated workflows.
- Design and prioritize orchestration workflows that streamline client onboarding, data ingestion, and deployment.
- Partner with engineering to ensure automation features are scalable, reusable, and aligned with platform architecture.
- Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to embed CI/CD practices into delivery automation.
- Define product requirements that support automated testing, deployment, and monitoring of client-facing features.
- Champion observability, telemetry, and release governance as part of the automation roadmap.
- Own and manage the product backlog for delivery of automation and orchestration features.
- Translate business needs into epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Lead sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
- Work closely with client delivery teams to gather feedback and validate automation use cases.
- Communicate product vision, roadmap, and release plans to internal and external stakeholders.
- Align delivery automation initiatives with company OKRs and data product strategies.
- Define and monitor KPIs for delivery efficiency, automation adoption, and DevOps maturity.
- Maintain a transparent, prioritized backlog to ensure efficient development.
- Use insights to continuously refine product priorities and improve client outcomes.
- Champion Agile best practices supporting PDLC and SDLC, providing guidance and insights to the development team.
What you bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Product Owner of DevOps or Delivery Automation solutions in the US Healthcare IT field.
- Proven success in automation, DevOps integration, and client delivery optimization.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, orchestration tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards (HL7 V2, FHIR, X12).
- Exceptionally strong technical acumen with the ability to both communicate product features and roadmap and listen empathetically to product and client engineering teams to understand their needs/problems and how Delivery Automation can improve their efficiency.
- Previous experience working with international teams, including United States, and proven track record of successful delivery in this environment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies, and familiarity with product management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, ProductBoard).
- Proficiency in SQL and/or other technologies leveraged by enterprise healthcare data solutions.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to provide leadership in cross-functional teams to ensure on-time / on-budget delivery of commitments.
- A highly proactive get-it-done attitude and the skills to back it up.
- Self-starter with demonstrated ability to drive workstreams independently and manage risks with strong compass on when to escalate issues.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.
What we would like to see, but not required:
- Experience in Databricks, Snowlake AWS and/or Azure and related cloud infrastructure.
- Experience leveraging generative AI (GenAI) to enhance delivery automation, such as using LLMs for documentation generation, mapping suggestions, or intelligent workflow orchestration.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and prioritize AI use cases based on feasibility, impact, and ROI.
- Proficiency in programming languages relevant for DevOps, such as Python, Bash, Go, or JavaScript, to support the prototyping of automated delivery workflows.
