About the Role
Wolters Kluwer is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Production Specialist to join its Publishing division. In this role, you will support the end-to-end production workflow of scholarly articles, from author submission through to final publication in journal issues.
You will collaborate closely with authors, editors, and external vendors to ensure content is processed efficiently, adheres to quality standards, and is published on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support the production workflow for author-submitted articles.
- Coordinate with external vendors for typesetting, proofing, and other production services.
- Liaise with authors and editors to resolve queries and ensure smooth progression of manuscripts.
- Track articles through various production stages to ensure timely publication in scheduled issues.
- Perform quality checks to ensure content meets publishing standards and specifications.
- Assist in assembling and preparing final content for publication and distribution.
- Maintain and update production schedules, ensuring adherence to timelines.
- Monitor and track production activities, costs, and material usage where applicable.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of production workflows.
- Support release processes and ensure readiness of content for publication.
- Participate in team meetings to review workflows, priorities, and production targets.
- Provide administrative and coordination support for production operations.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to review and ensure accuracy and quality compliance.
- Production Knowledge: Basic understanding of publishing or production workflows (preferably STM/journal publishing).
- Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Coordination Skills: Ability to work with authors, editors, and vendors efficiently.
- Record Keeping: Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate documentation and tracking.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and escalate issues in the production process.
- Team Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- MS Office Proficiency: Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and other productivity tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Publishing, Communications, or a related field.
- Prior experience in academic publishing, journal production, or content operations is advantageous.
- Familiarity with manuscript submission and tracking systems is a plus.
