Iron Mountain is seeking a highly organized, results-oriented, and experienced Project Manager to drive operational excellence and efficiency across our organization. The Project Manager for Operations will be responsible for leading critical projects aimed at optimizing our internal processes, implementing new operational systems, and enhancing overall business performance. This role requires a strong blend of project management expertise, analytical thinking, and the ability to effectively collaborate with various operational teams.
Job Summary:
The Project Manager for Operations will spearhead initiatives designed to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our day-to-day business operations. This individual will manage projects from initiation to closure, ensuring successful delivery of solutions that streamline workflows, reduce costs, enhance productivity, and improve customer satisfaction. They will work closely with department heads, process owners, and front-line teams to identify needs, define solutions, and manage implementation.
Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Strategy:
Collaborate with senior management and department heads to identify operational challenges and opportunities for improvement.
Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success metrics for operational initiatives.
Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget requirements.
Conduct feasibility studies and business case analyses for proposed operational projects.
Process Improvement & Optimization:
Analyze current operational processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for automation or redesign.
Lead cross-functional teams in process mapping, gap analysis, and the development of optimized workflows.
Champion continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) within operational projects.
Design and implement new operational procedures, policies, and best practices.
System Implementation & Integration:
Manage the implementation of new operational tools, software, or systems (e.g., ERP modules, CRM enhancements, logistics platforms, internal ticketing systems).
Coordinate with IT, vendors, and business users for system configuration, testing, and deployment.
Oversee data migration and integration efforts.
Execution & Monitoring:
Lead project teams, delegating tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring accountability for deliverables.
Monitor project progress, identify deviations from the plan, and implement corrective actions.
Proactively identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies.
Manage project budget, track expenses, and ensure cost-effectiveness.
Stakeholder Management & Communication:
Act as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders, including operational teams, IT, finance, and senior leadership.
Communicate project status, challenges, and successes regularly and clearly.
Facilitate workshops, meetings, and training sessions to ensure smooth adoption of new processes/systems.
Manage expectations and build strong collaborative relationships.
Change Management:
Develop and execute change management plans to ensure successful adoption of new operational processes and systems by end-users.
Address resistance to change and provide necessary support and training.
Post-Implementation & Performance Tracking:
Conduct post-implementation reviews to assess project success and lessons learned.
Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of operational improvements.
Ensure ongoing support and continuous improvement of implemented solutions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
12+ years of progressive experience in project management, with a significant focus on operational improvement or business process re-engineering.
Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex operational projects from conception to completion.
Strong understanding of operations management principles and methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, process automation).
Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Asana, Jira, Smartsheet).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Exceptional written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong leadership, team facilitation, and stakeholder management abilities.
Ability to influence without direct authority and drive consensus among diverse teams.
Highly organized with a meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
[Relevant certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional), Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt), or CAPM are highly preferred].
