The Job:
We are seeking a Senior QA Engineer who will own end-to-end quality for complex features and systems. This role is ideal for a deeply technical QA professional who thrives in ambiguity, excels at API and system-level testing, and can independently lead testing efforts from design through post-release validation.
This is not a junior or execution-only role. You will be expected to influence quality decisions, identify risks early, and partner closely with Product and Engineering teams — including on AI-powered features and workflows.
The QA Engineer on this team will be responsible for developing the testing strategy for our new software products while advocating for high quality standards across our entire process and product. The QA Engineer must become a subject matter expert on everything we build and test.
The ideal candidate has a strong software development foundation, experience using reliable and scalable test frameworks, incredible attention to detail and a passion for the discipline of software validation.
You need to love wearing multiple hats, getting your hands dirty and power through crunch periods.
Responsibilities summary:
- Own manual QA execution for complex features and releases
- Design and execute comprehensive test strategies and test plans
- Perform advanced API testing (functional, negative, edge cases)
- Validate backend workflows, data integrity, and multi-service interactions
- Lead exploratory and risk-based testing for high-impact areas
- Participate actively in:
- Requirements reviews
- Design discussions
- Sprint planning and retrospectives
- Ensure thorough pre-release and post-release validation
- Clearly document and communicate defects, risks, and quality status
- Test AI-driven features, including:
- AI agents and automated workflows
- Rule-based + model-driven logic
- Non-deterministic outputs
- Design validation strategies for:
- Edge cases and failure modes
- Data and prompt variability
- Regression testing of AI behavior
- Collaborate with Engineering and Automation QA on AI quality coverage
- Partner with Automation QA Engineers by:
- Identifying high-value automation candidates
- Reviewing automation coverage for risk alignment
- Validate CI/CD-driven builds and deployments
- Participate in release readiness and go/no-go discussions
- Use logs, metrics, and system behavior to improve test coverage
Who You Are:
Must-Have- 5+ years of QA experience with a strong manual testing focus
- Expert-level API testing experience (Postman or similar)
- Strong understanding of backend systems and service-based architectures
- Experience testing complex, distributed systems
- Proven ability to work independently on complex projects
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Solid understanding of Agile / Scrum QA practices
- Experience testing AI-powered systems or agents
- SQL and data validation experience
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and release workflows
- Experience collaborating with automation teams
- Exposure to monitoring/logging tools (Datadog, Splunk, etc.)
