As part of Risk Management and Compliance, you are at the center of keeping JPMorganChase strong and resilient. You help the firm grow its business in a responsible way by anticipating new and emerging risks and using your judgement to solve real-world challenges that impact our company, customers and communities. Our culture in Risk Management and Compliance is all about thinking outside the box, challenging the status quo and striving to be best-in-class.

As an Associate in the Chief Investments Office Market Risk team, you will support the second line of defense with a primary focus on AI adoption and process improvement across market risk coverage for Agency MBS, RMBS, MSR, and related hedging activities. You will partner with risk managers, technology, and control functions to identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve data quality and controls, enhance reporting, and build repeatable analytics—leveraging AI where appropriate—while maintaining sound risk management and governance standards. This role sits within a CIO Market Risk team focused on Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities (RMBS) and related structured products. The team is responsible for overseeing market risk management for the Consumer Community Banking Home Lending Business, with primary focus on residential mortgages origination, securitization and hedging.

Job Responsibilities

  • Identify, design, and deliver process improvements across market risk workflows (e.g., monitoring, commentary, scenario production, limit tracking, management reporting).
  • Build and maintain automation solutions for recurring risk tasks (data pulls, reconciliations, exception reporting, dashboards, documentation generation), with a strong controls and auditability mindset.
  • Drive AI adoption in day-to-day risk activities by proposing use cases, piloting solutions, measuring impact, and supporting responsible rollout aligned with governance and control expectations.
  • Partner with Market Risk coverage leads to ensure enhanced tools/reporting meet business needs and improve insight quality, timeliness, and consistency.
  • Perform targeted risk analytics as needed (e.g., sensitivities, stress/scenario runs, drivers of risk/P&L) to support coverage and validate tooling outputs.
  • Collaborate with Technology, Product Control, Middle Office, Operations, and Compliance to remediate data/booking breaks and reduce manual touchpoints.
  • Create and maintain documentation (process maps, controls, runbooks, tool assumptions, change logs) to support sustainability and regulatory readiness.
  • Support stakeholder communication by producing clear materials that explain methodology, outputs, and limitations of tools/automation/AI-enabled processes.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in market risk, risk analytics, product control, technology/automation, model development, or a similar role with demonstrated process improvement delivery.
  • Bachelor’s degree required in finance, math, engineering, economics, business, or computer science.
  • Demonstrated AI adoption experience is required, such as applying AI tools to improve analysis, reporting, documentation, controls, or workflow efficiency, and partnering with stakeholders to move from concept to implementation with appropriate human oversight.
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data; ability to validate outputs, detect anomalies, and communicate limitations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to translate technical work into clear outcomes for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong controls orientation (documentation, testing, data quality checks, process discipline) and sound judgement when operating in a risk environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage defined deliverables independently, prioritize effectively, and escalate issues appropriately.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and  Skills

  • Exposure to mortgage/structured products or rates risk (Agency MBS, RMBS, MSR, TBAs, swaps, options) is a plus.
