Position Overview
We are seeking an Associate Data Engineer to join our SAP BI team at Maersk, focusing on SAP BI Semantic layer development and maintenance. The ideal candidate will work with senior data engineers to create and maintain data abstraction layers that enable seamless reporting capabilities across our organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop SAP BusinessObjects universes using Universe Design Tool (UDT) and Information Design Tool (IDT), ensuring optimal performance and user experience
- Create and maintain metadata abstraction layers / semantic layer that connect to various data sources including relational databases and cloud data platforms
- Collaborate with business analysts to understand reporting requirements and translate them into effective semantic layer designs.
- Implement security measures and access controls within universes according to organizational policies
- Perform universe migrations between development, test, and production environments
- Document universe structures, objects, and relationships for knowledge sharing and maintenance purposes
- Contributes to change management, release and testing, performance monitoring, and requirements management SAP Business Objects (SAP BI) to provide users globally the best possible service
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- 2-4 years of experience in SAP BI universe development
- Proficiency in SQL and database / data warehousing concepts
- Experience with SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise platform
- Working knowledge of UDT and IDT tools
- Good communication skills.
- Understanding of Software life cycle.
- Exceptional data analysis skills to prepare data for further use or consumption.
Preferred Skills
- SAP BI/BusinessObjects certification
- Knowledge of cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience with version control systems
- Understanding of dimensional modeling and star schema concepts
- Experience in the field of enabling connectivity or supporting the integration of applications and processes on machine to machine level as well as end users, e.g. API Management, Robotic Process Automation, Job/Batch Scheduling (using Jenkins)), Electronic Data Exchange System, etc.
- Experience in SAP BusinessObjects Administration
