The Impact of Security Engineering to Coupa:
Coupa’s Application Security Engineers are part of the Technology Platform, keeping Coupa’s product and customer data safe. Security engineers work closely with development teams to ensure secure coding practices are integrated throughout the software development lifecycle, preventing security risks before they emerge. You will also provide security guidance to developers and other stakeholders, fostering a culture of security awareness within the organization.
What you will do:
- As an Application Security Engineer, you will design, develop and maintain security testing functionality impacting the team output.
- You’ll integrate basic security principles into processes within your own area and analyze and identify root causes of problems.
- You will be responsible for identifying and mitigating security risks in software applications through out the development lifecycle.
- Maintain security tools and automation to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of security processes. This could include tools for statics analysis, dynamic analysis, SCA and Secrets scanning.
- You will collaborate with various teams including development, infrastructure and operations to ensure a holistic approach to application security.
What you will bring to Coupa:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
- 1-3 years of software development experience
- Experience with scripting languages such as Ruby, Python, Java, .NET or Javascript
- Able to work well with software development teams
- Experience identifying security issues through code review.
- Excellent and professional communication skills (written and verbal) with an ability to articulate complex topics in a clear and concise manner.
- Familiarity with some common security libraries and tools (e.g. static analysis tools, proxying / penetration testing tools).
- Familiarity and ability to explain common security flaws and ways to address them (e.g. OWASP Top 10).
- Basic development or scripting experience and skills. Ruby, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and/or Go are preferred.
- A basic understanding of network and web related protocols (such as TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, protocols).
- Critical thinking skills with advanced ability to solve complex problems
