POSITION OVERVIEW
BDC is the only bank dedicated exclusively to Canadian entrepreneurs. As a Senior Commercial Account Manager, you will build and manage relationships with small and medium-sized businesses, supporting their growth through financing and advisory solutions. You will play a direct role in the success of entrepreneurs with revenues between $3M and $50M, while developing new business opportunities in the Ottawa West region. Your work contributes directly to strengthening the Canadian economy.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
- Meet with entrepreneurs to understand their business needs, challenges, and growth objectives; recommend appropriate BDC financing and advisory solutions.
- Execute an action plan aligned with Business Centre objectives to grow and retain a portfolio of clients while developing a pipeline of new business opportunities.
- Review, structure, negotiate, and present financing proposals, applying sound credit judgment.
- Maintain an active presence in the local business community by leveraging existing networks and building relationships with centers of influence (COIs) to generate referrals.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment while supporting the growth of Canadian entrepreneurs.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 4–6 years of relevant experience in commercial banking, lending, or business finance.
- Experience analyzing financial statements (e.g., balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements).
- Demonstrated experience in business development, including prospecting and achieving sales or growth targets.
- Experience managing client relationships and delivering customer service.
- Experience reviewing and/or negotiating financing or credit proposals.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingualism in English and French.
- Established professional network in the Ottawa West region.
- Experience working with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with revenues between $3M and $50M.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Experience working with referral networks or centers of influence (COIs).
