The Senior Data Warehouse Engineer designs, implements, and maintains enterprise data warehouse solutions. Acting as a technical leader on complex projects, this role drives systematic improvements across the data ecosystem, ensures adherence to governance standards, and partners with business and technical teams to deliver scalable, AI-ready solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Tech in CS, Engineering, IS, or related field
- Experience:
- 8+ years in data engineering, warehousing, or platform engineering
- 6+ years with cloud data platforms (Snowflake preferred, Databricks, AWS)
- 5+ years leading technical projects and initiatives
- 3+ years with IaC tools (Pulumi, Terraform)
Technical Skills:
- Python (advanced), SQL & dbt (YAML contracts, macros, semantic models)
- ETL/ELT, batch/stream processing, ingestion pipelines (Fivetran, CDC, Snow pipe), orchestration (Airflow/MWAA)
- Data observability (freshness, anomaly detection), validation, and governance (PII tagging, RBAC, Atlan)
- Snowflake advanced features (Snowpark, Streams, Tasks, Data Sharing, Dynamic Tables)
- CI/CD, DevOps, automated testing, version-controlled workflows
- Data modeling (dimensional, star schema, bronze/silver/gold layers)
- SQL optimization & performance tuning at enterprise scale
- Other: Agile methodologies, project management tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps), technical debt assessment, stakeholder communication, mentoring experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- MLOps platforms (MLflow, SageMaker)
- FinOps and cloud cost optimization
- Advanced Atlan usage (catalog & lineage)
- Data mesh & decentralized architectures
- Real-time streaming and event-driven systems
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead complex, cross-team projects; manage timelines, risks, and dependencies
- Design and implement DBT models (bronze/silver), ensuring semantic consistency and contract adherence
- Build version-controlled transformation logic with data quality & observability frameworks
- Architect scalable cloud data warehouse solutions; evolve platform tooling ecosystem
- Own and optimize ingestion pipelines (Fivetran, CDC, Snowpipe) and ETL/ELT frameworks
- Drive performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness across environments
- Collaborate with squads to scale data marts and enable AI-readiness
- Deploy and manage cloud data infrastructure via IaC with financial accountability
- Implement CI/CD workflows, cost monitoring, and optimization strategies
- Establish governance processes (PII tagging, RBAC, lineage, compliance)
- Identify and resolve technical debt, champion modernization and engineering excellence
- Support EDW maturity by enhancing observability, contracts, and AI enablement
- Evaluate emerging technologies and promote best practices across teams
