· End-to-End Ownership: Design, deploy, and manage high-performance databases (SQL + NoSQL) powering cloud ecosystems.
· Customer-First Reliability: Ensure 24×7 uptime and low-latency access for customer-facing workloads; establish proactive monitoring and failover systems.
· AI-Native Automation: Implement AI-driven query optimization, anomaly detection, and predictive scaling using performance telemetry.
· Performance & Optimization: Continuously tune schema, indexing, and query design to achieve sub-second responses and minimal cost per transaction.
· Security & Compliance: Manage encryption, secrets, access control, and data integrity across multi-cloud environments; enforce least-privilege and zero-trust policies.
· Disaster Recovery & Backups: Design automated backup, replication, and restore workflows with near-zero data loss objectives.
· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Cloud, Firmware, and AI teams to align data models, telemetry ingestion, and analytics pipelines.
· Documentation & Learning: Maintain clear, living documentation and share knowledge to improve organizational resilience.
Requirements
· 15+ years managing production databases at scale (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar).
· Deep understanding of indexing, replication, partitioning, and sharding in distributed systems.
· Proven experience with AWS RDS / DynamoDB / Cassandra or GCP equivalents.
· Strong in SQL tuning, query plan analysis, and capacity planning for high-concurrency workloads.
· Hands-on with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD integration for DB changes.
· Familiarity with IoT telemetry or event-driven architectures (Kafka, MQTT, TimescaleDB).
· Solid grounding in data security and privacy best practices (encryption, RBAC, audit logs, GDPR).
· Bias for action, clarity, and customer empathy: you care deeply about what your uptime means to someone using the product.
