You will work at the heart of critical database systems at Akamai. You will join a talented, cross-functional team of engineers. You will have influence over every stage of the lifecycle design, architecture, development, testing and deployment.
#Linode-Compute
As a Senior Database Administrator, you will be responsible for:
- Architecting and evolving MySQL topologies
- Performing research, test and assist with deployment of database performance and reliability improvements
- Leading query tuning and index strategy.
- Implementing observability and automation for our database environment
- Driving root-cause analysis for database incidents: document and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have 5 or more years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related
field - Have expertise in MySQL 8 internals, including schema/index design, optimizer behavior InnoDB and
replication - Have knowledge of Linux (performance, file systems,
I/O, process/threading, networking) - Have some amount of exposure to shell and/or
Python for tooling and automation - Have understanding of computer networking (TCP,
TLS, Load Balancing, DNS, routing/NAT, firewalls) and how it impacts databases
