Senior Database Administrator/Engineer

Zoom is seeking a Sr. DBA/DBE with experience in managing MongoDB primarily, and ideally also has experience in managing MySQL and/or other RDBMS as well as DynamoDBs to join our world class team in managing critical and large-scale databases. You will be working with other DBAs and engineers to implement solutions for database related projects and tasks.

Responsibilities

• Manage production MongoDB clusters on premises and in the cloud

• Perform DBA tasks such as maintenance, backup/restore, tuning, troubleshooting, monitoring, and upgrade, etc.

• Write automation and maintenance scripts using shell, python, ansible, etc. 

• Working closely with DevOps and Service Engineers to solve various issues

• Develop and enforce architectural governance, database standards and best practices

• Managing and supporting MySQL and DynamoDB environments.

• Act in incident management to resolve active incidents

• Working on projects, tickets, deployments, and releases, etc.

• Participate in team weekly on-call rotation and monthly deployment rotation

• Be available off-hour occasionally to meet and work with cross functional teams in different time zones

Requirements:

• 5+ years of solid hands-on experience in managing MongoDB 7.x/6.x or above in Linux environments 

• Deep understanding of MongoDB and/or NoSQL technologies, replication, sharding, load balancing, and HA.

• Hands-on experience in deploying and managing MongoDB clusters, replicaSets, shards, and Mongo Atlas, etc.

• Expert knowledge and experience in MongoDB performance tuning, troubleshooting, monitoring, alerting, backup/restoring, etc.

• Proficient in MongoDB or NoSQL Database design, architecture, deployment, maintenance, upgrade, and patching, etc.

• Working knowledge in OpsManager as well as other management or monitoring tools

• Solid DBA experience in all facets of DBA tasks such as database design, installation, backup/recovery, performance tuning, troubleshooting, patching, and upgrading in both Cloud and on-premises environments.

• Good hands-on experience in MySQL 5.7/8, or other RDBMSs is a plus

• Good knowledge and experience with DynamoDB administration is a plus.

• Strong Scripting experience in Shell, Perl, or Python, etc. and automation tools (Ansible, chef, git, etc.)

• Forward thinking, self-motivated and a strong team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a broad scope of responsibilities.

• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, software engineering or equivalent related experience.

In addition to the base salary and/or OTE listed Zoom has a Total Direct Compensation philosophy that takes into consideration; base salary, bonus and equity value.

Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.

We also have a location based compensation structure;  there may be a different range for candidates in this and other locations
