This role will join a team focusing on web and mobile solutions as well as be an active member of our DevOps guild: a lean, experienced team with direct stakeholders in engineering, operations, SREs, security, compliance, etc. Our platform follows the goal of being cloud native with modern patterns, thoughtful selection of technology solutions, a clear eye on security/privacy control considerations among multiple other sibling non-functional considerations. We aspire to provide efficient and reliable GitOps and automation. We are social beings that emphasize communication and collaboration through the mechanisms like practice guilds, peer development, documenting our decisions and plans, and maintaining awareness of industry patterns and practices evolution.
What you'll do...
As a Senior DevOps Engineer you will help deliver reliable pipelines and platforms. You are a member of a lean remote team of experienced polyglot engineers adept at software engineering, new technology introduction, and effective collaboration at a distance. You will be responsible for working directly with a pod of engineers to support automated, repeatable build and deploy of solutions and services across our technology platform, with the goals of improving developer experience, automating more quality goal assurance functions, and helping to support the effective team sport that is solutions engineering at Progyny.
7+ years in DevOps related role for a moderate-to-large sized software engineering organization
Experience with containerized environments and considerations is a must (Helm charts, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
Solid experience with IaC (Infrastructure as Code) models and Terraform/HCL conventions (control logic, patterns and composition, etc.)
5+ years GitOps automation on common SCM platforms (GitHub, GitLab)
Deep experience with Git-flow and code branch management models & considerations (ex: trunk-based vs. Feature-based)
3+ years working with AWS (ex: VPC, IAM, etc.)
Proven ability to anticipate CI/CD considerations for distinct platform components and environment constraints (example: Web/SPA vs. Data pipelines)
Proven experience with various build and package management solutions and toolchains (ex: Jenkins, GitHub actions, NPM, Maven, PyPi, etc.)
Familiarity with frontend-specific build tools (e.g., Vite, Webpack, Babel) and experience optimizing for performance metrics
Proven experience in supporting frontend automated testing frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Cypress)
Demonstrated ability to reduce friction in local development (e.g., hot reloading) and enforce code standards through CI (e.g., linting, formatting)
Demonstratable knowledge of authentication and authorization access patterns (ex: OIDC, common flows, etc.)
Demonstratable security knowledge (PKI, restricted data, etc.) and integration to relevant source systems (authorization store, certificate managers, secrets managers, etc.)
Demonstratable Linux and shell skills
Demonstratable SCM skills
Comfortability with Bash and Python
Some experience working in a regulated business environment (ex: Healthcare) is a plus

In compliance with New York City's Wage Transparency Law, the annual salary [wage] range for NYC-based applicants is: $165,000 - $175,000. There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. Progyny offers a total compensation package comprised of base salary, cash bonus, and equity.
