About the Senior DevOps Engineer role…
As a Data Platform Engineer, we expect experience as an Infrastructure Platform engineer, which includes hands-on experience supporting Big Data systems. Your focus areas will be on building and optimising our data systems, pipelines, streams and lakes.
As a member of the Infrastructure Platform team, you will be a subject matter expert on AWS Cloud infrastructure, administering Kubernetes and utilising Terraform. You will work closely with data scientists and engineers to ensure our data platform meets the evolving needs of the business.
What you’ll do…
Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable infrastructure using Terraform.
Assist building and optimising data lakes and warehouses for efficient streaming, storage and retrieval of large datasets.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize the infrastructure platform for performance and cost.
Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to understand their data requirements and provide efficient solutions.
Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to improve our infrastructure platform.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all platform components.
Act as an escalation point and subject matter expert for BAU support issues related to the infrastructure platform.
Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation to support critical production infrastructure
What you have…
Extensive professional experience in an infrastructure platform engineering role .eg SRE, DevOps. Good experience working with data engineering, data platform teams.
Hands-on experience on Terraform. Strong proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, GoLang).
Demonstrated deep experience with Cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services. Strong Linux Administration skills and security hardening experience.
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery).
Demonstrated experience with Kubernetes or equivalent container orchestration service and underlying technologies .eg Ingress, Network Policies, FluentBit
Experience with big data and streaming technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Kafka) is highly desirable.
Understanding of MLOps and LLMOps principles.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed collaborative team.
