Role Description
Engineer is responsible for managing or performing work across multiple areas of the bank's overall IT Platform/Infrastructure including analysis, development, and administration. It may also involve taking functional oversight of engineering delivery for specific departments. Work includes:
- Planning and developing entire engineering solutions to accomplish business goals
- Building reliability and resiliency into solutions with appropriate testing and reviewing throughout the delivery lifecycle
- Ensuring maintainability and reusability of engineering solutions
- Ensuring solutions are well architected and can be integrated successfully into the end-to-end business process flow
- Reviewing engineering plans and quality to drive re-use and improve engineering capability
- Participating in industry forums to drive adoption of innovative technologies, tools and solutions in the Bank.

Your key responsibilities
This role is for a Senior Engineer Mainframe who will be responsible for
- You will design, develop and maintain critical mainframe application in the payments landscape.
- You will ensure that engineering solutions are aligned with business goals, ensure that solutions are well architected, with maintainability and ease of testing built in from the outset.
- You will provide engineering thought leadership within their teams and will play a role in mentoring and coaching of less experienced engineers.
- You will liaise with Product Owners to capture feature enhancements.
- You will work with vendor team on development projects, create/review technical documents and plan/execute production implementation.
- To ensure a stable and maintainable production environment, you will be the Subject Mater Expert as part of the L3 Support.
- In case of incidents and business requests, you will be actively involved in the incident and request analysis and drive the problem resolution.
Your skills and experience
- Have design and development experience on Cobol, JCL, DB2, CICS, MQ, Stored Procs and SQL
- Experience in banking domain, specifically payments will be an added plus
- Experience with Agile/SCRUM environment.
- Familiar with Agile Team management tools (JIRA, Confluence)
- Good communication skills
- Pro-active team player
- Comfortable working in multi-disciplinary, self-organized teams
- Professional knowledge of English
