Senior Software Engineer – Backend (C++)

Role Context
As a Senior Software Engineer – Backend (C++), you are a high-impact individual contributor building core system-level capabilities of FLX ONE Cargo (F1C). This role is centred on deep hands-on C++ development, systems thinking, and ownership of performance-critical components.
You will design and build backend modules that require strong understanding of concurrency, memory management, and performance optimisation. Your influence comes through code quality, technical depth, and engineering judgment.
This is a code-first role. You are expected to actively contribute to production systems, solve complex technical problems, and ensure components are efficient, scalable, and reliable under load.
Hands-On Development & Vibe Coding
● Design, build, and evolve core FLX ONE Cargo services and APIs using modern enterprise stacks.
● Rapidly prototype, iterate, and refine solutions while maintaining production-grade quality.
● Take ownership of complex or high-impact components within the codebase.
● Actively participate in debugging, optimisation, and production issue resolution.
Technical Excellence & Quality
● Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code that others can build upon.
● Perform thoughtful code reviews that raise overall code quality and consistency.
● Apply modular design principles to enable independent evolution and future migration paths.
Operational Ownership
● Own the runtime behaviour of the services you build, including reliability and performance.
● Contribute to observability, logging, and alerting to ensure systems are supportable in production.
● Participate in on-call or escalation rotations as appropriate.
Collaboration & Enablement
● Work closely with Tech Leads, Architects, and Product to turn requirements into sound implementations.
● Pair with other engineers to share context, unblock progress, and spread good practices.
● Support early-career engineers through example, feedback, and collaboration.
What You Must Bring
● 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building production systems.
● Strong proficiency in modern C++ with experience building backend or system-level applications.
● Experience building and operating cloud-native services on AWS or equivalent platforms.
● Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and event-driven architectures.
● Strong problem-solving skills and a high sense of ownership for what you build.
Nice to Have
● Experience in airline, cargo, logistics, or other integration-heavy enterprise domains.
● Familiarity with modular architectures and incremental migration approaches.
● Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code.
● Experience using AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, testing, or debugging.

Senior Software Engineers are the engine room of FLX ONE Cargo. Your ability to move fast, write high-quality code, and take ownership of complex problems directly determines how quickly and safely the platform evolves.
Strong hands-on C++ experience is mandatory.
Profiles without recent C++ development experience will not be considered.
Backend experience in other languages without C++ depth is not suitable.
