We are seeking a practical Engineering Project Manager to oversee the delivery of a greenfield tea factory in India, covering both:
  1. Construction oversight (as owner's representative)
  2. Post-construction factory setup and commissioning
This is a highly execution-focused role requiring technical judgment, on-site presence, and the ability to enforce standards without direct authority over the construction teams.

Key Responsibilities
On-site Execution & Quality Control
  • Be physically present on-site during key construction phases
  • Perform regular walkthroughs to verify material quality, installation correctness, compliance with agreed layouts and technical drawings
  • Identify deviations early and document them with evidence
Technical Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to agreed specifications, including material standards, Hygiene and food-grade requirements (if applicable), infrastructure readiness for machinery installation
  • Review and validation of architectural drawings, engineering plans
Coordination
  • Work closely with: external architect, external engineering, landlord / construction teams
  • Act as the central coordination point between all parties
  • Issue & Risk Management
  • Promptly identify quality risks, timeline risks, cost-impacting deviations
  • Escalate with clear recommendations, not just problem statements
Reporting
  • Provide structured weekly updates covering progress vs plan, key risks and mitigations, decisions required, deviations from specification
  • Machinery Installation
  • Coordinate delivery, positioning, and installation of machinery
  • Ensure site readiness (space, utilities, load capacity, access)
  • Align installation sequence with production flow
Infrastructure & Utilities
  • Oversee setup and validation of electrical systems, water supply and drainage, Ventilation / HVAC, waste handling
  • Ensure systems meet operational and safety requirements
  • Commissioning & Readiness
  • Coordinate testing of all systems and equipment
  • Ensure factory is ready for production start, no critical defects
  • Support initial ramp-up phase

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • B-Tech in Electronics/Electrical/ Instrumentation/ Automation 
  • 10+ years of experience in industrial/factory projects in building / commissioning a medium sized industrial facility in India 
  • Practical experience with construction projects or industrial facility buildings working on-site
  • Completion of at least one greenfield industrial / factory project end-to-end
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
  • Solid on-site execution and operational readiness experience in India 
  • Experience ensuring compliance with technical standards
  • Demonstrated ability to manage external contractors and vendors
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
