The Role

We are seeking a Senior ServiceNow Developer who will also serve as a strategic product leader for our ServiceNow platform. In this hybrid role, you will not only drive hands-on development but also help define and execute the platform roadmap in partnership with the platform owner and key stakeholders. Moderna’s ServiceNow environment is undergoing a major transformation — from cleaning up technical debt and simplifying complex customizations to rebuilding core ITSM modules and fully leveraging our investments in ITOM, SAM, HAM, and HRSD. You will play a critical role in modernizing and scaling the platform using out-of-the-box capabilities, regulatory best practices, and data-driven insights. This is a unique opportunity for a technically strong developer who thrives on ownership, collaboration, and platform strategy.

Here’s What You’ll Do

  • Serve as both technical expert and product strategist for the ServiceNow platform.

  • Lead the rebuild of ITSM modules (Change, Incident, Problem) using OOTB best practices and regulatory standards.

  • Partner closely with the platform owner to define and drive the platform roadmap and simplification strategy.

  • Reimplement Change Management on OOTB with templated workflows and audit-readiness.

  • Support the rollout of our CMDB implementation, including Discovery, Axonius payloads, and future Service Mapping.

  • Rebuild the Service Portal to improve usability and align with best-in-class design and UX.

  • Drive the implementation of Knowledge Management following scalable, support-centric models.

  • Build and enhance Service Catalog items, dashboards, KPIs, and reporting to provide visibility and measurable value.

  • Identify underutilized modules (ITOM, HAM, SAM, HRSD) and propose simple, scalable solutions to unlock value.

  • Lead solution design, development, and integration (REST/SOAP/MID) across internal systems and external tools.

  • Act as a mentor and coach to other developers, promoting standards, reusability, and governance.

  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, backlog grooming, and stakeholder demos.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience (5+ years).

  • 6+ years of hands-on ServiceNow platform development experience across ITSM and at least one other capability (e.g., ITOM, HRSD, SAM, HAM).

  • Demonstrated customer-centric mindset with a strong focus on understanding user needs, delivering intuitive solutions, and providing excellent support to internal stakeholders.

  • Proven success transforming legacy or heavily customized ServiceNow environments into OOTB-aligned, scalable solutions.

  • Strong scripting skills (Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Actions, Script Includes).

  • Demonstrated experience with REST/SOAP integrations and MID server architecture.

  • Active ServiceNow CSA certification and at least one specialty cert (ITSM, App Developer, etc.).

  • Familiarity with CMDB and Discovery setup, including identification and reconciliation rules.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., life sciences, pharma/biotech).

  • Experience with Axonius, Service Mapping, and configuration item data modeling.

  • Demonstrated ability to act as a product owner, define MVPs, and collaborate with business and technical stakeholders.

  • Experience with portal redesign, UX/UI best practices, and stakeholder adoption.

  • Experience leading platform upgrades, change control, and governance.

  • Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • A mindset that embodies Moderna's values: Bold, Relentless, Curious, Collaborative.
