About the Role:
We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join our Scout team—Remitly's agentic AI team responsible for building AI-powered experiences that help customers send money, solve problems, and complete tasks wherever they are—whether on Remitly's website, mobile app, or third-party platforms like WhatsApp.
As a member of the Scout team, you'll collaborate across teams to enable money transfer functionality on external platforms and help other domains by providing them with a robust conversational AI platform. You'll be involved in prototyping, validating, and scaling new AI-driven solutions.
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional partners including UX, Legal, Compliance, and Marketing, as well as most platform engineering teams, giving you exposure to a wide range of technical and business challenges.
You Will:
Gather and analyze requirements.
Design, code, and test APIs, data storage solutions, and integration with third-party services. Identify and fix issues or bugs.
Work with the team to quickly resolve problems and maintain system stability.
Collaborate with teams, including product/program managers and marketing, compliance and legal specialists.
Guide the team's technical strategy while leading, shipping features and systems.
Promote engineering excellence by delivering well-tested, observable, documented, efficient, scalable, and resilient solutions, improving team processes, and contributing to cross-team technical designs.
Enhance team talent through mentoring, code review, interviewing, and ramping new hires.
You Have:
A BS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
5+ years of professional experience
Experience building and optimizing large-scale web architectures.
Knowledge of backend programming languages such as Java or Golang
Proven experience software development practices, system design, software design patterns, and algorithms
Proficiency in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, etc.)
Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is $148,000-$185,000. In Canada, Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
