We are in search for an Software Engineer at ST Engineering iDirect who will work within the engineering department in a SCRUM team using an Agile framework. The candidate will be responsible for participating in the specification, design, development, testing, and support features for a satellite communications system from concept through completion. He/she will be a highly motivated self-starter with strong written and oral communication skills and work well in a team environment. ResponsibilitiesJob Responsibilities-
Analyze requirements and RFCs and come up with efficient software designs
Participate in determining the future direction of the satellite system and related products in the areas of software architecture, infrastructure performance, test and reliability
In an Agile framework, document, design, develop, test, and integrate software functionality for various components within a satellite system and related environments
Take a collaborative design and validation approach in working with a multi-functional Scrum team of software, firmware, embedded, application, and test engineers
Troubleshoot and provide resolutions for technical issues encountered in the deployment of software solutions.

Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, electronics and communication engineering, information technology, a related subject area, or equivalent experience
7+ years hands-on C/C++ software development experience with the ability to design, implement, debug, and maintain PHY-MAC control-plane software running on embedded ARM/Linux or X86 platforms.
Hands-on experience developing and optimizing real-time signal-processing algorithms on programmable DSP processors such as CEVA, NXP, or similar architectures.
Strong programming experience with Vector C/C++, including SIMD/vectorization and optimization of DSP algorithms for processor-specific architectures.
Experience implementing fixed-point DSP and digital communications algorithms on programmable DSP platforms.
Experience with development, debugging, profiling, and performance optimization tools for programmable DSP processors.
Experience partitioning communications/PHY functionality between FPGA fabric, programmable DSP processors, and embedded ARM processors is highly desirable.
Experience integrating programmable DSP-based PHY implementations with higher-layer software, MAC/control software, FPGA interfaces, and embedded ARM processors in a complete modem or wireless communications system.
Familiarity with 5G NR/5G NTN MAC and PHY-MAC interactions, including resource grids, slots/frames, numerology, scheduling, transport channels, HARQ, link adaptation, and the mapping of MAC-layer data and control information to physical channels.
- Proven experience with solving real-time embedded issues, including threading, optimization, memory management, interrupt handling, etc. in multi-core/multi-CPU environments
Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP), Sockets programming
Understanding of 3GPP standards, 5G architecture desired
Experience with cloud technologies (AWS/Azure) desired
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Must be a self-motivated individual with technical leadership potential and proven success in a structured development environment.
Possess the ability to proactively drive technical solutions in a collaborative environment.
Good software design skills using proven and best practice design methodologies & related principles; Strong command of Object-Oriented Design and Object-Oriented Programming techniques.
Demonstrated experience in developing quality and maintainable software.
Strong documentation and writing skills.
Strong technical leadership and mentoring of junior members of the team.

Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
Experience/ knowledge in satellite/ terrestrial communications systems is desired
Working experience with tools such as GDB and Valgrind
Experience with version control systems (such as git) is strongly desired
Experience with Jira and Jenkins desired
Experience developing unit tests, integration tests, and functional testing, including the development of related test automation integrated in a CI/CD pipeline desired
Scripting using shell scripting or Python desired
