Senior Software Engineer - Fullstack (Java/GO/Python/Node + React & JS/TS)
Note***: This is a hybrid role, combining remote and on-site work, requiring 3 days in the office, and relocation to Pune.
We are looking for a seasoned software engineer to join the team that owns building Agent experience in support products. Someone who identifies as a JavaScript developer with good knowledge in frontend technologies.
Agent Workspace enables Zendesk Support agents to work seamlessly across Zendesk channels, all within a single ticket interface. It is a critical piece of how customers use Zendesk Support, the most important part of the overall product user experience, and fundamentally what makes our customers successful.

What you get to do every day:
Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable microservices and APIs using Java (11+) and the Vert.x framework.
Develop and integrate frontend features using TypeScript, JavaScript, and React, ensuring seamless API connectivity (REST, GraphQL).
Architect backend systems for high performance, scalability, and maintainability.
Collaborate closely with frontend teams, product managers, QA, and DevOps, driving smooth user experiences.
What We’re Looking For:
6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years in full stack development.
Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript with significant experience using React for frontend development.
3+ years hands-on with backend development in Java (preferred), Node.js, Go, or Python.
Proven experience delivering microservices-based applications at scale.
Familiarity with REST and GraphQL APIs, containerization (Docker), and any cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
Expertise in relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis).
Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
Effective communicator, able to produce clear technical documentation and explain complex concepts.
Practical knowledge of agile development and cross-team collaboration.
Bonus PointsContributions to open-source, especially backend or cloud-native projects.
Familiarity with CI/CD tooling, automated test frameworks, and system monitoring.
Champion best practices in API design, component modularity, code quality, and secure development.
Lead code reviews and mentor engineers, cultivating a high-performing, learning-focused team culture.
Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks, scalability issues, and user-facing bugs.
Advance modern engineering practices: advocate for reactive programming, automated testing, CI/CD, and maintainable documentation.
Influence technical strategy and contribute to the roadmap for sustainable, scalable infrastructure.
Please note that Zendesk can only hire candidates who are physically located and plan to work from Karnataka or Maharashtra. Please refer to the location posted on the requisition for where this role is based.
Hybrid: In this role, our hybrid experience is designed at the team level to give you a rich onsite experience packed with connection, collaboration, learning, and celebration - while also giving you flexibility to work remotely for part of the week. This role must attend our local office for part of the week. The specific in-office schedule is to be determined by the hiring manager.
