Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior UX Designer to lead
end-to-end user experience design activities for a large-scale digital
transformation initiative within the Ontario Public Sector. This role will
transform business requirements, user insights, and service needs into
intuitive, accessible, and user-centered digital experiences.
The successful candidate will lead user research,
stakeholder engagement, usability testing, and design validation activities.
You will collaborate closely with product owners, business stakeholders,
architects, developers, and cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to
ensure that user needs and business objectives are aligned throughout the
product lifecycle.
As the UX subject matter expert, you will provide strategic
leadership in user experience, service design, accessibility, and continuous
improvement, helping deliver consistent and high-quality digital experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead
end-to-end UX design activities across the product development lifecycle,
including discovery, research, design, prototyping, testing, validation,
implementation, and continuous improvement.
- Plan
and conduct user research and stakeholder engagement activities, including
interviews, workshops, surveys, and usability testing.
- Translate
research findings into personas, customer journey maps, service
blueprints, information architecture, user flows, wireframes, mockups, and
prototypes.
- Design
intuitive, accessible, and user-centered digital experiences using UX/UI
best practices, human-centered design principles, accessibility standards,
and established design systems.
- Collaborate
with product owners, business stakeholders, and Agile delivery teams to
align user needs with business objectives.
- Develop
UX strategies and provide expert advisory services related to digital
experience, service design, usability, and performance measurement.
- Support
solution architecture activities, options analysis, and business case
development.
- Ensure
user feedback and usability insights are incorporated throughout the
product lifecycle.
Qualifications & Experience
UX Research & Design
- 5+
years of experience leading human-centered UX research and design for
complex digital products and services.
- Demonstrated
experience conducting user research activities, including interviews,
workshops, surveys, usability testing, and stakeholder consultations.
- Proven
experience leading end-to-end UX design initiatives from discovery through
delivery.
- Experience
creating personas, journey maps, service blueprints, information
architecture, user flows, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.
- Experience
applying accessibility standards and design systems in digital product
development.
- Experience
establishing UX metrics, performance measurements, and continuous
validation practices.
Service Design, Accessibility & Digital Delivery
- 3+
years of experience in service design and digital product delivery.
- Strong
understanding of human-centered and evidence-based design methodologies.
- Hands-on
experience creating wireframes, prototypes, and proof-of-concepts using
Figma or equivalent UX tools.
- Demonstrated
knowledge of accessibility standards including AODA and WCAG.
- Experience
supporting product and service design initiatives through journey mapping,
prototyping, and validation.
- Experience
contributing to UX strategies, service standards, and digital experience
improvements.
Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Strong
analytical, facilitation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience
leading stakeholder workshops and gathering business requirements.
- Ability
to build consensus and manage competing priorities across diverse
stakeholder groups.
- Experience
providing strategic recommendations and advisory services to project teams
and senior leadership.
Agile & Public Sector Experience
- Experience
working within Agile, Scrum, Lean, or DevOps environments.
- Experience
managing user stories, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and user
acceptance activities.
- Proven
ability to collaborate across the full product lifecycle from discovery
through implementation.
- Hands-on
experience with Azure DevOps or similar project delivery tools.
- Experience
supporting public sector, government, or large-scale digital
transformation initiatives.
Must-Have Requirements
- 5+
years of UX research and design experience for complex digital products
and services.
- Experience
planning and conducting user research and stakeholder engagement
activities.
- Experience
leading end-to-end UX design initiatives.
- Strong
proficiency in UX/UI best practices and human-centered design.
- Experience
collaborating with product owners, business stakeholders, and Agile teams.
- Experience
with Figma.
- Experience
working within Agile delivery environments.
- Experience
with Azure DevOps or similar tools.
