This role will be part of the Hearsay team, now an integral part of Yext.
We’re looking for a Medior Software Engineer to join our Budapest Engineering Team and help build the scalable, high-performance systems behind digital engagement for enterprise brands worldwide.
In this full-stack role, you’ll use technologies like Python, Kotlin, and React to design, build, and maintain secure, reliable services. You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers to boost performance, and streamline development workflows.
This is a hybrid position with the flexibility to work from home and the expectation to be on-site at least one day per week. We know life doesn’t always fit a schedule, so we make adjustments based on project and team needs.
What You'll Do
- Partner up with experienced engineers in designing and implementing scalable, high-performing solutions that meet business and user needs
- Debug, review, and refine code, proactively resolving issues and ensuring long-term maintainability
- Collaborate with product and engineering leads to shape priorities, contribute to roadmap planning, and participate in architectural decisions
- Continuously improve team processes and development practices to boost efficiency, quality, and team health
- 3+ years of full-stack software development experience, building business-critical applications across back-end and front-end technologies
- Strong grasp of object-oriented principles (OOP) and design patterns, with 3+ years of experience using Python, Java, C++, or C#; our team will primarily use Python and Kotlin
- Experienced in modern front-end frameworks such as React, Backbone, or Underscore, with a solid foundation in HTML, CSS, and core web technologies
- Hands-on knowledge of relational database management, including schema design, query optimization, data migrations, and high availability & disaster recovery strategies. An equivalent level of experience with NoSQL databases and NoSQL query languages is also acceptable
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (IaaS and PaaS)
- Commitment to clean, maintainable, and well-tested code (ideally with Jest)
- Curious and quick to learn; excited to explore new tools, frameworks, and technologies
- Strong analytical skills and a problem-solving mindset
- Fluent in English and Hungarian, with excellent communication skills
