In this role, you will independently manage external statutory reporting requirements for defined Avantor entities in Europe. You will ensure full legal, fiscal, and financial reporting compliance while maintaining high standards of accuracy and internal controls, including SOX processes. Key ResponsibilitiesStatutory Accounts & Audit- Lead the preparation and completion of statutory accounts under local GAAP, including extended trial balances, reconciliations to US GAAP, and financial statement notes.
- Prepare Directors’ and Strategic Reports in partnership with senior leadership, ensuring compliance with annual legal requirements.
- File statutory accounts with relevant regulatory bodies on time.
- Manage legal compliance activities, including updates to directors, legal names, and registered business addresses.
- Prepare dividend computations, perform variance reviews, and maintain documentation folders.
- Manage internal and external audit processes, including reviews, board meetings for adoption of accounts, and statutory audit closures.
- Mentor and support team members through reviews, coaching, and constructive feedback.
- Coordinate with external consultants, providing required data and tax workings for CIT return preparation.
- Review company tax returns, support true‑up entries, and collaborate with Corporate Tax.
- Prepare estimates for advance tax liability and maintain accurate tracking of tax payments.
- Ensure adherence to corporate accounting policies (US GAAP) and local statutory requirements.
- Review month‑end close results and local GAAP reporting packages.
- Ensure compliance with hedge accounting and foreign exchange reporting requirements.
- Prepare and submit required statistical reporting.
- Develop and file transfer pricing documentation with tax authorities.
- Provide financial information for Group Operations, Treasury, Tax, Legal, HR, Internal Audit, Insurance, and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to the enhancement of financial reporting systems and processes.
- Collaborate with FP&A to analyse expense trends and operational activities for inclusion in directors’ reporting sections.
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent qualification, with 5–6 years of relevant experience in a Big 4 firm, audit firm, or multinational environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work through complex accounting matters independently.
- Strong knowledge of local GAAP; familiarity with US GAAP is an advantage.
- Ability to prioritise and manage workloads in a dynamic environment.
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and professional integrity.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and comfort with system improvements.
- Proactive, collaborative, and solution‑oriented mindset.
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Ability to build strong stakeholder relationships across teams.
- Experience leading or mentoring team members.
- Strong financial reporting acumen with an understanding of broader business impacts.
