As a Senior PS Consultant (Senior Software Engineer) in our Professional Services – Global Solution Engineering team, you will play a key role in evolving and maintaining the HERE Automotive SDK and its associated backend services. These services support in-car navigation use cases across domains such as Routing, Rendering, Search, System, Traffic, and Guidance.
You will:
- Design, test, and implement software systems that optimize data operations and solution designs.
- Configure, run, monitor, and enhance performance to ensure high customer availability.
- Adapt services to backend API changes and technological upgrades.
- Maintain and improve code quality using best engineering practices.
- Analyze business requirements and develop optimized, customized solutions.
- Engage in research and development to align product capabilities with HERE’s vision.
- Identify gaps in prototypes and scaled projects, and communicate improvements to stakeholders.
You’ll contribute to backend services that directly impact the in-car user experience, including routing algorithms, traffic updates, and hazard alerts delivered via REST and native APIs.
Who are you?You are a collaborative and results-driven backend engineer with a passion for cloud development and integration, especially with OEM platforms. You bring:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in cloud development projects.
- Strong programming skills in Java, with working knowledge of Python or Scala.
- Experience in building and maintaining test scripts using tools like JUnit and Cucumber.
- Proficiency in developing HTTP REST services and working with SQL databases.
- Understanding of software optimization, performance, and security principles.
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD practices, and cloud platforms such as AWS/S3.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in multicultural, multi-site environments.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with Kubernetes, OpenAPI 3.0, HERE Platform, and location-based services (e.g., mapping, navigation, GPS) is a plus.
- Knowledge of automotive standards such as Navigation Data Standard (NDS) and Transport Protocol Experts Group (TPEG) is advantageous.
