The Enterprise IT team at Yahoo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the development of AI-powered productivity tools and modern web applications that revolutionize how our employees work. In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of enterprise-grade software solutions that leverage the latest advancements in AI and cloud technologies to accelerate business workflows, increasing efficiency and productivity across the organization.
As a key member of the IT - Productivity, Support, and Shared Engineering team, you will contribute to the development of enterprise-grade software solutions that integrate cutting-edge AI technologies to streamline business processes and significantly boost employee productivity.
Responsibilities:
Design, architect, and deliver scalable AI-enabled software solutions that address complex business challenges.
Collaborate with product managers and engineers across different time zones to understand requirements and develop technical solutions.
Lead technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers across the team.
Evaluate and integrate emerging AI technologies and frameworks, including generative AI and large language models.
Drive adoption of cloud-native architectures using AWS or GCP services to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
Collaborate with cross-functional partners to define requirements, set technical direction, and deliver impactful solutions.
Continuously monitor industry trends in AI productivity and quickly translate innovations into actionable solutions for employees.
Basic Qualifications:
Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of professional software engineering experience for building APIs, backend development, and DevOps, including recent experience in a senior or lead role.
Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or TypeScript.
Experience integrating AI/ML technologies and services (e.g., LLMs, natural language processing, machine learning APIs).
Excellent communication skills and a track record of cross-functional collaboration.
Strong understanding of system design, architecture patterns, and security best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience in AI platforms, GenAI, and machine learning application development.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with strong attention to detail.
A proactive attitude towards evolving skill sets and staying current with technology trends.
Capable of leading in a collaborative environment involving developing solutions, presenting those solutions for review by peers, and training co-workers on the solutions.
Team player with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.
Background in leading agile development teams and delivering high-impact software solutions at scale.
