Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled Performance Test Engineer with strong experience in designing, developing, and executing performance tests for web applications, APIs, and enterprise systems. The ideal candidate should have hands-on expertise with LoadRunner, k6, Locust, and Python, along with a solid understanding of performance engineering principles, bottleneck analysis, and test automation.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and execute performance, load, stress, spike, and endurance tests for applications and services.
Create and maintain performance test scripts using LoadRunner, k6, and Locust.
Develop and enhance test frameworks and utilities using Python.
Analyze application performance, identify bottlenecks, and provide tuning recommendations.
Monitor system behavior during test execution and collect metrics from application, server, database, and network layers.
Collaborate with developers, QA, DevOps, and business teams to define performance requirements and acceptance criteria.
Prepare detailed performance test plans, reports, and dashboards with actionable insights.
Support root cause analysis for performance issues and work with cross-functional teams on remediation.
Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines for continuous performance validation.
Ensure adherence to performance testing best practices, standards, and governance.
Required Skills
Strong hands-on experience with LoadRunner for enterprise performance testing.
Experience with modern open-source performance testing tools such as k6 and Locust.
Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and custom test framework development.
Good understanding of performance testing concepts: load, stress, spike, soak/endurance, and scalability testing.
Experience testing REST APIs, web applications, and microservices.
Knowledge of application monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, or New Relic.
Familiarity with SQL and database performance analysis.
Understanding of cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in performance engineering for distributed systems and microservices architecture.
Knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript for k6 scripting.
Experience with containerized environments such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Familiarity with Linux/Unix commands and shell scripting.
Exposure to Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
Certification in performance testing tools or cloud technologies is a plus.
Education and Experience
8+ years of experience in performance testing and engineering.
Proven experience in performance analysis, reporting, and stakeholder communication.
