TITLE: Staff Revenue Accountant
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
The Revenue Staff Accountant performs daily, monthly, and quarterly tasks to ensure accurate recording of revenue-related transactions and maintenance of corporate accounting records. This role works closely with the Revenue Senior Accountant and Associate Manager of Accounts Receivable, as well as other members of both the accounting team and the larger Finance department, in the performance of those tasks. Major responsibilities of the Revenue Staff Accountant include contract and revenue schedule analysis, research of customer issues, setup and completion of monthly reconciliations, and providing supporting documentation for our external audits.
Perform revenue-related month-end close activities.
Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and detailed analyses for assigned accounts.
Calculate and book monthly accruals (SLA, NIPR)
Set up Software contracts.
Maintain internal tracking mechanisms and ensure all contracts have revenue and billing schedules and are set up to allow for timely customer invoicing.
Review all Salesforce opportunities closed during the month for sale date, DCM%, and other relevant fields driving revenue recognition.
Review contracts to ensure proper revenue treatment in accordance with company policy and revenue recognition accounting standards.
Evaluate contracts for non-standard terms, multiple elements, and appropriate revenue recognition.
Work closely with other Finance team members and cross-functional departments such as Sales, FP&A, and Professional Services.
Perform ad-hoc analyses as necessary to support other business functions.
Aid in ongoing and future projects (pricing model changes, revenue automation, integrations)
Assist with monthly KPIs and identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
WHAT YOU’VE DONE:
Bachelor’s or Masters Degree and/or equivalent experience relevant to functional area
1+ years experience in Accounting or Finance field
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & BEHAVIORS:
Preferred experience with large ERP systems (Workday, Salesforce, FloQast).
Preferred experience with U.S. GAAP, particularly ASC 606, Revenue From Contracts With Customers.
Preferred experience working in with a reputable public accounting firm or within a US-based global company.
Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data to support decision-making and program design.
Strong financial and operating accounting skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex information to diverse audiences.
Desire to learn or have experience with revenue recognition under ASC-606 guidelines.
Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously and manage incoming deliverables.
Ability to work successfully both independently and in a team environment.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including strong Excel skillset.
Capability to actively seek out, stay informed about, and adapt to emerging developments, innovations, and trends relevant to Finance and Accounting.
Ability to effectively review and analyze contracts using a high level of precision and diligence.
Capacity to identify and resolve discrepancies in general ledger accounts and accounting entries. Proficiency in troubleshooting issues related to compliance, controls, and financial systems.
Technical Proficiency using the appropriate systems to complete assigned tasks efficiently and effectively.
Ability to navigate and complete multiple projects and tasks through effective utilization of time and resources.
Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
