About your role

As a Technical Lead on our AI Initiatives team, you will be at the forefront of Juniper Square's transformation into an AI-first organisation. This role requires a highly self-driven individual with a strong product-focused mindset. You will work collaboratively with engineers, product managers, designers, and QA experts to develop and enhance features and capabilities for our portfolio of AI-driven solutions. You will contribute to building intelligent agents and systems that leverage Large Language Models (LLMs) and our rich datasets to solve real customer problems and enhance internal operations. A key part of your role will be to proactively contribute to our product direction, bringing your technical expertise to bear on how AI can best serve our users. This role involves a strong focus on adopting AI-accelerated design and development practices to improve team efficiency and innovation as we build the next generation of our platform.

What you’ll do
  • Collaborate on projects within cross-functional AI squads, contributing to the development of AI-native products and capabilities that are central to our AI-first strategy, always with a focus on product impact.

  • Assist in implementing and fine-tuning LLM-based solutions, including conversational AI agents and advanced data extraction systems, ensuring they meet product objectives.

  • Participate in project kickoffs and help translate project requirements into technical specifications for AI features, actively contributing to product discussions.

  • Contribute to defining and expanding data models to support AI initiatives, considering how data can best serve product goals.

  • Implement business logic in the service layer, ensuring alignment with AI project requirements and best practices for a robust product.

  • Help define and implement GraphQL API endpoints for AI services.

  • Work with modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React) to develop user interfaces for AI-powered features that deliver excellent user experiences.

  • Develop training resources and testing frameworks for AI agents and models.

  • Write integration and unit tests for your code to ensure the reliability and performance of AI solutions.

  • Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to maintain code quality and product integrity.

  • Take initiative in your LLM engineering skills development and contribute to a culture of rapid iteration and Al-native development.

  • Contribute to the vector search/indexing capability to support Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) for our AI systems.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to leverage AI for product improvements and innovation.

  • Provide technical support for stakeholder groups and assist in troubleshooting issues related to AI features, understanding the customer impact.

  • Participate in monitoring, diagnosing, and addressing production issues for AI systems.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

  • 6+ years of experience in software development, particularly with modern web application frameworks (e.g., React, NestJs, FastAPI, or similar).

  • Experience with AI/ML technologies, particularly LLMs, natural language processing, and/or machine learning model development and deployment.

  • Strong product sense and customer empathy; a demonstrated ability to think from the user's perspective.

  • Highly self-motivated and able to drive initiatives forward with a degree of autonomy.

  • Familiarity with concepts like Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, and prompt engineering.

  • Experience with service-oriented architecture.

  • Preferred experience in Python and/or TypeScript.

  • Understanding of server-side MVC frameworks (like Django, Spring Boot, Rails, Pyramid, etc.).

  • Experience with database schema design.

  • Experience with CI/CD, cloud deployment (preferably AWS), Infrastructure as code (IaC) and monitoring tools

  • Must be flexible and adaptable—you will be juggling multiple projects in a fast-paced, startup-like environment focused on rapid AI innovation.

  • A proactive mindset towards learning and adopting new AI tools and technologies (e.g., Cursor, Augment, MCP).
