Our multiple design award-winning team comprises over 60 talented individuals located worldwide, including a team of over 20 people based in our Bangalore design center of excellence. As our company and our products grow rapidly, it is crucial to scale the user experience of our product, with our Design and Technical Writing teams.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a core hire - our first Technical Design Program Manager in Rubrik’s growing Bangalore office. This function will help us scale, make our award-winning team more efficient, and help drive our next phase of growth. This role will collaborate closely with the senior Design and Technical Writing leadership team and the key partners across the development process.
The Technical Design Program Management function creates and runs the operational engines that allow our Design and Technical Writing teams to focus on their craft, remove operational friction, and deliver world-class user experiences at scale.
Responsibilities:
As the first Technical Design Program Manager in our Bangalore office, you will own the operational rigor for our Global Technical Writing team (US & India) and drive efficiency and health for our India Design team. You’ll leverage your strong technical expertise to ensure effective and efficient program outcomes.
- Backlog and Resource Management: Partner with leadership to refine the global backlog. You will refine sizing guidelines, assign ticket ownership, make sure that the workload is distributed equally across team members and identify opportunities to automate the Jira processes.
- Proactive Planning: Lead regular syncs with Product Management and Engineering to identify documentation needs early. Ensure all prerequisites are defined, information is accurate and timelines are identified before the work hits the writers' desks.
- Process Engineering: Audit the current workflow and streamline it. You will partner up with the leadership team to improve the current workflows, and introduce new processes where necessary.
- Reporting & Communication: Communicate technical program status effectively to stakeholders, backed by regular metrics analysis that enables leadership to make timely and data-driven decisions.
- Delivery Assurance: Own the timeline and on-time delivery. Work with Eng/PM to secure firm deadlines and ensure the Tech Pubs team is integrated into the Design-to-Eng handoff process, preventing last-minute scrambles.
Who you are:
We are not looking for a task manager; we are looking for a system builder. You are the first functional hire in this region, which means you must be comfortable operating independently and collaborating across geographies.
- 4-8 years of relevant Technical Program/Project Management experience in the engineering/development space, backed by a strong working knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile frameworks.
- A Proactive Problem Solver: You don’t wait for permission to fix things. If a process is broken, you identify the root cause, propose a solution, and implement the fix.
- Global Operator: You have experience supporting teams across different geographies (US & India). You know how to keep projects moving 24/7 without letting communication slip through the cracks.
- Comfortable with Ambiguity: You thrive in an environment where requirements aren't always clear. You ask the hard questions to create structure out of chaos, even in a highly technical context.
- Process Architect: You have a track record of building systems from scratch for technical teams—creating sizing models, Jira workflows, workload calculation framework—and getting teams to adopt them.
- Courageous Communicator: You are comfortable pushing back. If a timeline is unrealistic or a team member is overloaded, you have the confidence to raise the flag to leadership and propose alternative paths.
Tool Proficiency: Deep expertise in Jira (dashboarding, workflow creation) and spreadsheet modeling is required.
