Geolog is looking for a Technical Support Engineer to enrol in our Fast Track Development Programme (FTDP) in India. This is an exciting opportunity for graduates and early-career professionals to gain direct access to a technical career path through structured training, hands-on experience and field exposure.
The Technical Support Engineer will support the installation, maintenance and operation of Geolog’s mobile mud logging units on onshore and offshore oil rigs.
No previous oilfield experience is required. Geolog will provide comprehensive training to develop the technical knowledge and practical skills required to become fully operational at the rig site.
The role offers the opportunity to work in a technical and dynamic environment while gaining valuable field experience and developing a long-term career within Geolog.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in installation and testing of equipment in the mud logging unit.
- Assist with routine maintenance, inspection and basic troubleshooting of sensors and equipment in use.
- Support field crew with equipment-related tasks and learn Geolog’s technical procedures.
- Assist with preparing, checking and organising equipment, spare parts and consumables before mobilisation to the rig.
- Check, clean and organise equipment returning to the base from the field.
- Assist with maintaining equipment records, checklists and technical documentation.
- Support inventory and warehouse activities.
- Follow Geolog and client HSE procedures at all times.
- Develop practical, technical and field skills through on-the-job training and supervised rig-site exposure.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, or a related technical discipline.
- Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Strong interest in technical and field-based work within the oil and gas industry.
- Basic understanding of electrical, electronic and instrumentation systems.
- Good problem-solving and willingness to learn new technical skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Willingness to work on onshore and offshore oil rigs and in field locations.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
- Ability to work in a demanding field environment and adapt to different working conditions.
This position is based in India, with potential opportunities to transfer to international projects in the future.
Previous mud logging or oil and gas experience is an advantage but not essential.
