Test Engineer 2
Purpose
To perform software tests to ensure quality.
Key Activities

• Execute manual test cases
• Able to document a bug or defect that I find during testing
• Work independently if given a list of tasks to complete
• Diligent and accurate in testing tasks
• Understand the benefits of testing in delivering quality code
• Author basic test scripts given training and an understanding of the system
• Author test scripts and review the test scripts of others
• Create test scripts suitable for automation
• Learn to test a wider range of software
• Tailor tests to ensure the appropriate amount of testing time are provided to areas of highest risk
• Execute validation testing on a software solution and manage the test engineers to ensure on-time delivery
• Communicate effectively with developers to explain the defects I raise
• Mentor and support junior testers

Required Skills & Experience

• Ability to create and execute manual test cases.
• Ability to create bugs and defects.
• Understanding of Software Development Lifecycle.
• Understanding how to use the Browser Developer Tools.
• Literate in using computer software and enterprise web applications.
• Learns and tries to use basic tools (Test case management, Test plan, Bug tracking).
• Has solid communication skills and attention to details.
• Has theoretical knowledge on ISTQB Foundation Level and knows how to use it in practice
• Smoothly operates on basic QA tools.
• Requires little or no guidance and oversight.
• Consistently follows all engineering standards adopted by the team/project.
• Understands and is able to use every tool in their domain of expertise.
• Communicates clearly, active listener. Participates in clarifying requirements and tasks with positive impact on the project.
• 3-5 years' experience in manual testing
• Interacts with and influences colleagues and contributes fully to the work of teams by appreciating how own role relates to other roles
• May oversee others or make decisions which impact routine work assigned to individuals or stages of projects. Has working level contact with customers, suppliers and partners.
• Understands and collaborates on the analysis of user/customer needs and represents this in their work
• Performs a range of work, sometimes complex and non-routine, in a variety of environments and applies a methodical approach to routine and moderately complex issue definition and resolution
• Applies and contributes to creative thinking or finds new ways
• Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills when engaging on issues with colleagues, users/customers, suppliers and partners
• Understands and effectively applies appropriate methods, tools, applications and processes
• Learning and professional development -takes the initiative to develop own knowledge and skills by identifying and negotiating appropriate development opportunities

Required Training & Education

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or any equivalent degree
• Has a thorough understanding of recognized generic industry bodies of knowledge and
• specialist bodies of knowledge as necessary
• Has gained a thorough knowledge of the domain of the organization•
• Is able to apply the knowledge effectively in unfamiliar situations and actively maintains own knowledge and shares with others
• Rapidly absorbs and critically assesses new information and applies it effectively
