The Role

Key Responsibilities

• You will work with teams that are modernizing applications to help study the existing application.
• You will highlight software design issues, potential opportunities for improvement, and recommend architectures that could work for the rewritten / replatformed code.
• You will interpret scan data from tools like CAST to understand the existing application.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in application consulting, implementation, or support.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Experience with the CAST toolset for analyzing COBOL code.
• Proficiency developing in COBOL.
• Analyze client requirements and translate them into functional application configurations.
• Strong understanding of migration strategies including rehosting, replatforming, refactoring, and replacement.
• Ability to assess legacy systems for technical debt, integration complexity, and modernization potential.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture for modern application design.
• Ability to design and implement API-first architectures and integrate with modern SaaS platforms.
• Experience in modernizing monolithic applications into modular, scalable systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with platforms like SAP, Oracle, Infor, Salesforce, or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Familiarity with cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Knowledge of SQL, APIs, and integration tools.
• Certification in relevant applications or methodologies (e.g., PMP, Agile, ITIL).
• Knowledge of data migration tools and ETL frameworks (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Talend, Informatica).
• Proven experience in planning and executing application migrations from legacy platforms (e.g., AS/400, mainframe, HP Tandem, on-prem ERP) to modern cloud or hybrid environments.
• Understanding of security and compliance considerations during migration (e.g., data encryption, access controls, GDPR/HIPAA).
• Strong documentation skills for migration plans, architecture diagrams, and post-migration validation.
