This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. It’s first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.    

As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will manage one of the major orbital launch systems (Transporter Erector).As a Responsible Engineer, you will share in our team’s impact on all aspects of launch vehicle and ground operations. You will be a technical expert for the Critical Ground Support Item (CGSI), drive decision making, and support continuous optimization for New Glenn’s long-term success.

This critical role will be filled by a passionate technical leader who drives execution, can deeply manage and engage an immense amount of technical details and take extreme ownership takes extreme to deliver on commitments (cost, schedule, performance). This position requires exceptional leadership, communications skills, grit, and the ability to execute with speed.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a technical expert in vehicle and ground systems that interact with the Transporter Erector.
  • Hold decision making authority on changes and incorporation for the system.
  • Prepare and present Launch readiness reviews.
  • Bring a business focus (lowering cost while increasing rate) while keeping safety paramount.
  • Continuously optimize the system for New Glenn’s long-term success.
  • Own system configuration management and changes
  • Drive a culture of safety, teamwork, unparalleled execution & leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Aerospace Engineering, or relevant field.
  • 10+ Years relevant experience in aerospace, launch systems, engineering development, or similar fields.
  • Demonstrated program/project management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering and configuration management.
  • Proven track record of technical leadership in complex engineering projects.
  • Be able to support on-site work at the Orbital Launch Site at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Base and understand constraints associated with working on a military base and compliance associated with it.
  • Ability to work flexible hours/shifts as needed
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion 
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience across mechanical, fluids, structural, and test engineering.
  • Experience in launch vehicle operations, systems integration, and or ground systems.

  • Required for all positions: Blue’s Standard Background Check

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification, Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
