We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Learning Experience Platform (LXP) team. In this role, you’ll design, implement, and optimize scalable backend services that prioritize quality, decoupling, performance, and maintainability. You’ll be part of a high-impact, cross-functional team of engineers who thrive on collaboration and are passionate about building user-centric cloud applications. Key Skills
- 7+ years of overall experience in backend engineering, including 3+ years designing and optimizing scalable APIs and microservices
- Proven experience developing and scaling backend services for complex, high-scale cloud-native applicationsStrong hands-on skills in backend programming languages such as C# or Java, with expertise in building robust REST APIs
- Experience with SQL and database technologies like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB, including schema design and query optimization
- Familiarity with containerization, event-driven architectures, and caching strategies
- Understanding of distributed systems and architectural patterns for building scalable solutions
- Experience with UI frameworks like Angular is a plus
- Knowledge of semantic search or Elasticsearch is a strong advantage
- Proven ability to work in fast-paced, startup-like environments with evolving priorities
- Strong ownership mindset with a bias for action and delivering impactful results
- Contributions to open-source projects or impactful side projects that showcase technical innovation
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end implementation of new backend services and enhancements to existing services
- Continuously improve system architecture by applying modern engineering practices and re-architecting legacy components
- Design and run A/B tests to measure feature impact and make data-informed improvements
- Investigate and troubleshoot production issues to ensure platform stability and performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality backend solutions aligned with product goals
- Mentor team members, promote knowledge sharing, and contribute to a culture of learning
- Work in an Agile environment, fostering a team culture of trust, collaboration, and continuous growth
