Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Vice President of Engineering to lead our tech teams and drive the strategic direction of our technological development. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing large-scale SaaS platforms, driving structural and operational transformation in organizations, driving programs that upskill and cross skill people, creating operational and engineering excellence frameworks and a deep understanding of our core technologies, including Java, .NET,, AWS, Kubernetes, RDS, etc. While Velsera is a remote first company, our preference is to find a candidate in Pune given most of our technology teams operate out of our Pune office.
What will you do?
Be a thought leader in transforming and modernizing engineering systems into technology lead digital products with modularisation, separation of concerns balanced with having the right amount of micro services.
Own and drive resourcing and roadmap decisions with stakeholders balancing tech investments, regulatory obligations, and allocation of investments towards various revenue streams such as licensing revenue and customization asks.
Owns transitioning of vendor staffed team to Velsera's internal teams either via transfer model or hire in and build in parallel.
Delivers exceptional, high-quality software products across multiple teams spanning across modular products under one broad digital product umbrella (think Salesforce/Office)
Regional leadership for Engineering in India with potential dotted line reporting responsibilities for wider tech.
Creates scalable frameworks to manage incoming requests into the tech, prioritize and roadmap them while working with delivery and product organizations
Define how tech can add to Velsera's moat and develop and implement the strategic technology roadmap.
Work closely with stakeholders to align technology initiatives with business objectives.
Communicate the technology strategy and progress to stakeholders, including the executive team.
What do you bring to the table?
Deep expertise in modern tech stacks: Proficient in technologies such as Java, .NET, AWS, Kubernetes, and RDS.
Cloud-native development experience, especially in designing and scaling SaaS platforms.
Strong understanding of software architecture principles: modularization, microservices, separation of concerns, and scalability.
Proven track record in senior engineering leadership roles, preferably VP-level or equivalent.
Experience in defining and executing strategic technology roadmaps aligned with business goals.
Ability to lead large, distributed engineering teams while maintaining high performance and alignment.
Experience driving large-scale structural and operational transformations in tech organizations.
Skilled in transitioning from vendor-based models to in-house engineering teams.
Demonstrated success in implementing engineering excellence frameworks and agile transformation initiatives.
Strong background in upskilling, cross-skilling, and building high-performing teams.
Ability to attract, retain, and develop top engineering talent across geographies.
Experience leading organizational development programs that align team growth with evolving business needs.
Comfortable working at the intersection of technology, product, and business.
Experience in balancing multiple revenue streams such as licensing and customization work.
Excellent communication and executive reporting skills.
Capable of translating complex technical topics into business-relevant narratives for C-level stakeholders.
Proven ability to align engineering goals with broader business strategies and communicate progress effectively.
