About this role

About the Team

At BlackRock, data isn't just a function — it's a strategic advantage. The Data Solutions and Reporting team sits at the heart of that advantage, supporting the global HR community and stakeholders across the firm with insights that span the entire employee lifecycle. We're not standing still — we're rapidly evolving from a Workday-centric reporting team into a modern, AI-integrated HR data platform, and we're looking for the right person to help us get there.

The Opportunity

This isn't your typical reporting role. We're looking for an Associate who is equal parts data engineer, Workday expert, and curious technologist who gets excited about connecting systems, automating the mundane, and building solutions that actually move the needle for HR and business leaders.

You'll partner with colleagues across HR, work closely with senior stakeholders, and have a real seat at the table in shaping how data and analytics are delivered at one of the world's leading investment management firms. And if you perform well? There's genuine room to grow.

What You'll Do

Build & Own Core Reporting Solutions

  • Design and deliver data solutions, reports, and dashboards that power decision-making across HR functions — from HR Business Partners and Talent Management to DEI, Compensation, and Recruiting.

  • Partner with HR leaders to ensure they always have accurate, timely, and meaningful access to data.

  • Craft complex custom Workday reports (matrix, composite, advanced, and more) that go beyond the basics and truly serve the business.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders through the full development lifecycle — from requirements to testing to post-production adoption.

  • Develop tactical and long-term data models that are built to scale and flex as HR evolves.

  • Own the end-to-end Workday release management process — evaluating new features, assessing impact, planning for changes, and driving implementation readiness every release cycle.

  • Embed risk, controls, and data privacy best practices into every solution you build.

Connect the Ecosystem — Integrations & Data Engineering

  • Design, build, and maintain Workday integrations — both inbound (data into Workday) and outbound (data out of Workday) — using tools like Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, and RaaS APIs.

  • Be the central connector of our HR technology stack — someone who understands how data flows, where it lives, and how to make it work seamlessly across platforms.

  • Partner with Technology & Operations on integration testing, monitoring, and production support.

Shape Our Snowflake Future

  • Play a key role in our migration of HR data from Workday to Snowflake, as we build toward a modern enterprise data platform.

  • Build and maintain Snowflake data models and pipelines that give the business governed, scalable, self-service access to HR data.

  • Work alongside data engineering and platform teams to uphold data quality, access controls, and lifecycle governance.

Bring Data to Life with Power BI

  • Build Power BI dashboards and reports that don't just display data — they tell a story and drive action at the senior leadership level.

  • Use strong visualization and storytelling skills to translate complex workforce data into clear, compelling insights.

  • Help lead the team's expansion into Power BI as a primary analytics and visualization platform alongside Workday Prism Analytics.

Explore What's Next (Nice to Have)

  • Use Power Automate to eliminate repetitive workflows and bring efficiency to HR reporting processes.

  • Experiment with and apply AI-powered tooling — including building MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers or connecting Microsoft Copilot Studio to Workday to enable the next generation of conversational HR data experiences.

  • Stay genuinely curious about where AI is taking HR technology — and bring those ideas back to the team.

Who You'll Work With

You'll build strong relationships across HR — Platforms & Infrastructure, Operations, Business Partners, Talent, and Compensation — as well as across BlackRock's Corporate functions including Risk, Compliance, Finance, and Legal. You won't just be executing requests; you'll be a trusted partner helping the business become more data-driven and self-sufficient.

What We're Looking For

  • 4+ years of experience building and delivering impactful HR data, reporting, and dashboard solutions.

  • Deep Workday expertise — advanced reporting, data modeling, and end-to-end knowledge of how Workday works under the hood.

  • Workday Integrations experience — inbound and outbound — using EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Studio, or RaaS APIs.

  • Snowflake proficiency — data modeling, SQL, and cloud data warehouse experience; HR data migration experience is a big plus.

  • Power BI — ability to build production-grade, executive-ready dashboards and reports.

  • Workday Prism Analytics experience strongly required.

  • Sharp data visualization and storytelling skills that turn numbers into decisions.

  • Meticulous attention to detail with a strong sense of data privacy and confidentiality.

  • A problem-solver who anticipates issues before they happen and drives solutions proactively.

  • An active, proactive communicator — you don't wait to be asked, you set your own goals, track your progress, and keep stakeholders informed every step of the way.

  • The ability to think end-to-end — from technical architecture to user experience — and deliver on both.

The Kind of Person Who Will Thrive Here

Beyond technical skills, we're looking for someone who brings energy, ownership, and curiosity to everything they do:

  •  Intellectually curious — you follow Workday releases, track AI developments, and are always thinking about what's next.

  • A self-starter — you own your work, set your own pace, and don't need to be told twice.

  • Proactively communicative — you surface issues early, share updates often, and build trust naturally.

  • A connector — you see the whole picture and love bringing systems, data, and people together.

  • Growth-minded — you're performing in this role today while already thinking about what you want to build tomorrow.

We're at a pivotal moment — transforming from a traditional Workday reporting team into a modern, AI-powered HR data platform. If you want to be part of building something meaningful and have the skills to make an impact from day one, we'd love to hear from you.

Our benefits
To help you stay energized, engaged and inspired, we offer a wide range of benefits including a strong retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, comprehensive healthcare, support for working parents and Flexible Time Off (FTO) so you can relax, recharge and be there for the people you care about.

Our hybrid work model

BlackRock’s hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week. Some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities. We remain focused on increasing the impactful moments that arise when we work together in person – aligned with our commitment to performance and innovation. As a new joiner, you can count on this hybrid model to accelerate your learning and onboarding experience here at BlackRock.
