Though many worry that AI will replace jobs, when leveraged appropriately, it can boost human efficiency. In fact, AI creates more jobs than it takes and is expected to create approximately 97 million more by 2025.

This is especially true in countries like India, where the AI market is expected to reach a projected value of $8 billion by the same year. And thanks to government initiatives and a symbiotic startup ecosystem, cities like Mumbai, Jaipur and Pune are emerging as epicenters of innovation. We’ve rounded up some of the top companies boosting Pune’s international reputation, and bursting with a wide range of opportunities.

ZS is a management consulting and technology firm focused on transforming healthcare. Through the use of data intelligence, ZS helps clients solve challenges and increase customer value. Celebrating 40 years in 2023, ZS has a team of 13,000 employees in 35 offices worldwide. 

 

British universal bank Barclays opened its Pune campus in 2019. The new location is the financial services company’s largest location outside of its global headquarters in London, housing 9,000 employees and providing technology and operations services. Barclays has had a presence in India since 1990.

 

IBM provides infrastructure, software and consulting services to the world’s mission-critical businesses. Founded in 1911, its supercomputers have consistently ranked among the most powerful in the world. IBM has locations in 175 countries, including 20 cities across India. 

 

Fintech company Credit Suisse provides investment banking, asset management and research to clients in more than 50 countries. Ten percent of Credit Suisse’s senior IT roles are based in India, where it maintains locations in six cities. It operates a 44-acre smart working facility in Pune that supports the company’s global operations.

 

Tech giant Amazon has several Pune facilities, including a delivery center, a fulfillment center and a development center. The online retailer and cloud services provider opened the Pune delivery center in 2019, its largest Indian delivery facility. Headquartered in Seattle, Amazon operates in 20 countries.

 

Tata Consulting Engineers is the largest Indian engineering and project consultancy. It provides engineering consulting across three main segments: infrastructure, power and resources. The company has more than 62 years of experience and has completed 12,000 projects in more than 65 different countries. Headquartered in Kolkata, Tata Consulting Engineers has additional locations in Pune and Mumbai.

 

Vodafone is a telecom company providing services in Europe, Africa and the Americas. It operates Europe’s largest 5G network and provides television services to more than 22 million customers. In India, Vodafone is the provider of the third-largest mobile telecommunications network.

 

TransUnion has its origins in credit reporting, but has grown into a global information and insights company providing credit insights, fraud prevention, risk management and analytics with offices around the world. The company’s Global Capability Center opened in Pune in 2023, focusing on innovation and digital transformation.

Capco is a technology and management consultancy specializing in financial services.
