Frequently Asked Questions
We take our work seriously, but definitely not ourselves. We’re building a genuinely groundbreaking product, which means setting a high bar, moving fast, and caring deeply about the impact of what we ship. It also means laughing a lot along the way.
Halter is a team of high performers who don’t just clock in and out. People here are deeply invested in the mission and in changing an industry that hasn’t evolved in a long time. That kind of change takes hard work, ownership, and a refusal to settle for “good enough”, and we’re proud of that standard.
At the same time, this is a place where people enjoy showing up. There’s humility, humor, and a strong sense of team. Many of us say we’re doing the best, most meaningful work of our lives, while having the most fun doing it.
Halter is a truly global, office-first team, with people working across the US and New Zealand. Work at Halter starts strong in the US, with teams collaborating in person and pushing things forward early, then seamlessly expands into global collaboration as our New Zealand teammates come online later in the day. This creates a natural rhythm that keeps momentum high and work moving forward across time zones.
A lot of collaboration happens face-to-face in our offices, supported by Slack, Gmail, and Google Meet to keep teams aligned across regions. We value real-time conversations, shared whiteboards, and quick problem-solving, while also being thoughtful about handoffs so work continues smoothly when teammates are offline.
We also believe collaboration shouldn’t be limited to the office. We strongly encourage getting out on the road and spending time together in person, whether that’s joining ride-alongs on farms and ranches, or traveling to New Zealand for meaningful time with teammates and HQ. Those experiences build trust, shared context, and stronger working relationships.
In short, we collaborate in person first, use async tools intentionally, and make time to connect globally, because the best work happens when teams are truly aligned.
Recognition is built into how we work at Halter. Teams celebrate wins regularly in smaller, weekly meetings where progress and impact are acknowledged close to the work itself. Those moments matter to us, because great work shouldn’t go unnoticed.
We also make recognition visible at a broader level. We host weekly US all-hands as well as a global all-hands, where standout wins and team achievements are shared across the company so everyone can see the impact being made.
Day to day, Slack is very much alive with recognition. Our #shout_outs_and_gratitude channel is a constant stream of appreciation, callouts, and celebrations, big wins, small wins, and everything in between. At Halter, doing great work gets noticed, shared, and celebrated.
