Squarespace Company Growth, Stability & Outlook

Squarespace Employee Perspectives

In August 2025, Squarespace expanded its commerce ecosystem with the launch of Squarespace Capital, building on the foundation established by Squarespace Payments two years earlier. The move reflected the company’s continued investment in supporting entrepreneurs beyond website creation, adding access to funding alongside its existing commerce tools.

“For over two decades, Squarespace has built tools to help entrepreneurs easily start, scale, and sustain their businesses. With the launch of Squarespace Payments in 2023, we laid the foundation for a more robust commerce ecosystem. Squarespace Capital is a natural next step, expanding our support to provide access to the critical financial infrastructure businesses need to grow.”

Squarespace is adapting its platform to changes in how consumers discover businesses online. By giving entrepreneurs tools to monitor their presence in AI-powered search, the company is helping customers respond to an evolving digital landscape while reinforcing Squarespace’s relevance as discovery behavior shifts.

“As AI-generated answers increasingly shape how people discover businesses online, entrepreneurs need greater visibility into how their brand appears across these experiences. AI Visibility helps businesses better understand how they show up in AI-powered search, identify gaps, and strengthen their presence as discovery continues to evolve.”

Squarespace entered a new phase of ownership in October 2024 when Permira completed its approximately $7.2 billion acquisition of the company. The transition preserved continuity at the top, with founder Anthony Casalena remaining CEO and board chairman, while longtime investors Accel and General Atlantic maintained meaningful stakes. Together, that leadership and investor continuity supported Squarespace’s focus on long-term growth and serving entrepreneurs globally.

“We are excited to embark on a new chapter with Permira, one focused on our long-term strategy and commitment to serving entrepreneurs globally. For more than 20 years we have provided customers with all the tools they need to stand out and succeed. This commitment will remain the same as we continue to offer our customers more and more tools to grow their businesses online. Permira joins our long-standing investors, Accel and General Atlantic, who remain meaningful investors and believe in a dynamic future for Squarespace.”
