About our Team:-
GLoSS (Global Localization Solutions & Services) is Elsevier's central localization technology and expertise service. We deliver shared infrastructure, AI-powered translation tools, linguistic data assets, and localization expertise to teams across the business, from Journal Operations and Clinical Solutions to Marketing and Product. Launched in 2021, we've grown rapidly and work in a matrixed environment with stakeholders across functions and geographies.
We are part of Operations and sit within the AI and Knowledge Operations department. Our team is small, high-impact, and globally distributed. This role is based in India and reports to the Localization Solutions Manager in Amsterdam.
About the Role:-
As Associate Localization Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting GLoSS as the person who makes sure our tools run smoothly, our users are supported, and our day-to-day requests are handled well. You'll work closely with senior team members who own the stakeholder relationships and strategy to support a diverse range of teams across Elsevier: contributing to a small team that punches well above its size.
You thrive working independently, communicating proactively, and using your own judgment to solve problems and move work forward. You are comfortable working across different localization tools and stages of workflows hands-on, and have a curious learning mindset when it comes to new tools, ways of working and AI. You bring a service mindset, meaning you follow through, close loops, and take ownership of the work in your lane.
Over time, this role can grow into a full Localization Specialist position as you deepen your expertise and expand your scope within GLoSS.
Responsibilities:-
- Provide day-to-day operational support across GLoSS tools, including our TMS, AI translation solutions, and AI voice platform
- Onboard and train new users on localization tools, workflows, and best practices
- Create and maintain process documentation, training materials, and user guides
- Troubleshoot tool and workflow issues, following up independently with stakeholders to close the loop
- Support vendor coordination and communication
- Liaise with stakeholders across a globally distributed, matrixed organization on day-to-day requests and questions
Requirements:-
- Hands-on experience with localization workflows and at least one TMS platform
- Confident communicator in English: able to explain tools and processes clearly, guide users through onboarding, and follow up with stakeholders independently
- You take initiative, work things out independently, and use your own judgment to move work forward
- Comfortable with ambiguity and a dynamic, fast-moving environment: you don't need everything defined before you act
- Intellectually curious and eager to learn you pick up new tools and ways of working quickly
- 2 to 3 years of experience working in localization
