As a BizOps Engineer II, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of mission-critical payment platforms within Mastercard's Treasury Services and the broader TECH organization. You are expected to operate with increased independence, technical judgment, and accountability, contributing not only to day-to-day operations but also to proactive improvements in system resilience and automation.
Business Operations is driving Mastercard's Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) transformation by embedding reliability, automation, and operational rigor across the development, quality, release, and product lifecycle. In this role, you will act as a strong advocate for operational standards, continuous improvement, and engineering-led operations, while mentoring junior team members and partnering closely with senior engineers and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Own and manage day-to-day monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational health of BizOps-owned applications and services in production and non-production environments.
Independently lead incident investigation and resolution efforts, including advanced triage, impact assessment, root-cause analysis (RCA), and follow-through on corrective and preventive actions.
Serve as a key operational partner to Engineering, Product, Treasury Services, Infrastructure, and Platform teams to improve system performance, reliability, and operational readiness.
Design, implement, and enhance automation solutions across monitoring, alerting, dashboards, CI/CD pipelines, and operational workflows to reduce toil and improve MTTR.
Actively participate in release planning and execution, ensuring production readiness through validation of monitoring, alerting, rollback plans, and operational documentation.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying recurring issues, architectural gaps, and process inefficiencies, and proposing data-driven solutions.
Contribute to and review runbooks, SOPs, and operational documentation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and ongoing relevance.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to BizOps Engineer I team members, supporting skill development and knowledge sharing across the team.
Uphold Mastercard Way behaviours, compliance requirements, and operational standards, and represent BizOps in audits, risk reviews, and change governance forums.
Skills & Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field involving coding (e.g., engineering, physics, mathematics), or equivalent practical experience.
Strong hands-on experience with Linux/Unix environments, SQL, and scripting or programming languages such as Shell, Python, or Groovy.
Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, networking fundamentals, and application lifecycle management.
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex production issues across application, infrastructure, and integration layers.
Experience prioritizing and managing multiple concurrent operational tasks in a high-availability, fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical issues and solutions to diverse stakeholders.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take ownership of outcomes.
Preferred
Experience supporting systems in a financial services or regulated environment.
Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace or similar platforms.
Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and infrastructure-as-code concepts.
Exposure to cloud platforms (public or private), containerization, or platform services.
Experience participating in SRE, DevOps, or reliability engineering initiatives.
Prior experience contributing to on-call rotations and production support models.
