Calypso Business Analyst – Financial Products, System Migration & Compliance
Job Summary
Synechron is seeking a highly experienced Business Analyst specializing in Calypso Capital Markets and Derivatives to lead requirements gathering, solution design, and integration efforts. This role involves working on complex platform enhancements, migrations, and upgrades supporting front and back-office functions in a highly regulated financial environment. Your expertise will facilitate the delivery of reliable, efficient, and compliant systems that optimize workflows and enable strategic growth for financial institutions.
Software Requirements
Required:
Extensive knowledge of Calypso versions 16.1 onwards (including upgrades and migrations)
Proven experience with Calypso Modules: Pricing, Accounting, ERS, Workflows, Reporting, Task Station, and Scheduled Tasks
Solid understanding of Calypso Hedge Accounting and Collateral modules with integrations
Strong domain knowledge in Fixed Income, Derivatives, Money Markets, Advances, LCs, and Equities
Familiarity with Derivatives Clearing affirmation processes
Working knowledge of SQL, relational databases, and data management techniques
Experience with ETL processes and data integration across enterprise systems
Preferred:
Exposure to cloud deployment of Calypso solutions (AWS/Azure)
Knowledge of GenAI frameworks such as LangChain, Llama, or Hugging Face (preferred)
Certification or deep experience in financial product valuation and derivatives lifecycle management
Overall Responsibilities
Lead the analysis, design, and implementation of Calypso-based solutions supporting diverse financial products and lifecycle events
Gather and analyze business requirements, translating them into scalable, high-quality system solutions across front and back-office processes
Support platform upgrade projects, data migration, and system enhancements from initiation to delivery
Collaborate with technical teams, operations, and stakeholders to ensure adherence to compliance, security, and operational standards
Identify and resolve technical issues in Calypso implementations, ensuring performance and stability
Conduct process reviews, gap analysis, and documentation to support operational excellence
Lead or contribute to integration efforts with external systems, trading platforms, and data sources
Drive continuous improvement in system performance, reliability, and process automation
Mentor junior team members and promote best practices within the project lifecycle

Business Analysis & Functional Skills:
Extensive experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements for financial markets
Strong understanding of derivatives, fixed income, equity, and money market products and their lifecycle events
Ability to map business needs into machine-readable rules and system configurations
Calypso-Specific:
Deep knowledge of Calypso modules: Pricing, Accounting, ERS, Task Station, Workflows, and Collateral
Expertise in Calypso upgrade, migration, and integration projects
Databases & Data Management:
SQL proficiency for relational data analysis and validation
Knowledge of data reconciliation, data quality checks, and metadata management
Frameworks & Technologies:
Calypso modules and APIs for trading and risk management

Experience Requirements
Minimum 7+ years of experience supporting, implementing, or optimizing Calypso in financial institutions or trading environments
Proven track record in Calypso upgrades, migrations, and integration projects
Extensive experience with front-to-back office workflows across derivatives, fixed income, and equities
Familiarity with derivatives lifecycle, valuation, and clearing affirmation processes
Ability to lead requirements specifications, gap analysis, and cross-team collaboration
Day-to-Day Activities
Gather detailed business requirements, document workflows, and system specifications
Lead or contribute to Calypso upgrade, migration, and enhancement projects
Design, develop, and support system configurations, reports, and data interfaces
Troubleshoot issues impacting trading, risk, or collateral workflows in Calypso
Collaborate with technical teams to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance
Conduct data reconciliation, validation, and metadata management activities
Support functional testing, user acceptance testing, and go-live activities
Advocate best practices in system configuration, process automation, and operational reliability
Participate in project planning, risk assessment, and strategic planning initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Computer Science, or related field; higher degrees or relevant certifications preferred
Extensive experience working with Calypso solutions specifically in financial trading, risk, and settlement environments
Knowledge of financial products, derivatives, and lifecycle management strongly preferred
Certifications in financial technology or system management are advantageous
