Job Description
The controls engineers are responsible for designing, programming, commissioning, and testing of the Material Handling Systems that we are supplying. The controls engineers work closely together with the Project manager, Project Lead and with the mechanical and hardware engineers during the execution process. The controls engineer reports to the Manager Engineering.
Job Description & Skill Requirement:
- Bachelors in electrical /Instrumentation / Control / Electronics.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in automation engineering on PLCs (Rockwell -Control Logix, Compact Logix).
- Good field exposure and ability to troubleshoot systems, instruments and attend shutdown activities.
- Hands on experience in designing, execution & selection of industrial automation products such as PLC/DCS, VFD, HMI/SCADA, Panel Design, Industrial communication (Ethernet, Profibus, ControlNet, Modbus.)
- Should have gone through complete project life cycle from design phase to commissioning.
- Knowledge of AB Hardware & Quality Management Systems & Review.
- Proficient in handling Customer on technical levels.
- Proficient to multi-task to handle multiple tasks and guide Project Engineers.
- Required – Rockwell / Siemens/PLC hardware selection and programming knowledge.
- Ability to work independently.
- Outstanding verbal and written communications skills.
- Responsible for the PLC software within our Material Handling Systems.
- Ability to analyze the problem and provide solutions during the trouble shooting situations.
- Help create Engineering work processes.
- Responsible for the control systems execution, from software design, system design, network design, commissioning, and testing / validation.
- Know, interpret, and apply procedures, standards, and regulations.
- Sets independently controls systems in operation according to commissioning plan in consultation with the site supervisor and project controls leader.
- Report progress to the Controls Project Leader and Manager Engineering.
- Support of the Electrical Supervisor, and/or Electrical Controls Engineer to minimize potential problems.
- Communicate and work closely with other groups within VI and project team (i.e., mechanical engineering, project management, supply chain, sales/proposal department and installation).
- Initiate improvement actions.
- Drive, support, promote and improve software standardization platform. Develops new modules for the platform.
- This position requires occasional on-call after-hours support.
- Travel up to 50%.
