New Era Technology is looking for a Senior Software Engineer / Lead – Database Administrator to own, manage, and optimize enterprise-grade database environments. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical expert who can also lead database strategy, ensure performance, security, and high availability, and work closely with application, cloud, and DevOps teams in a fully remote setup.
Key ResponsibilitiesDatabase Administration & EngineeringDesign, deploy, configure, and manage high-availability, high-performance database systems
Administer and optimize production, staging, and development database environments
Handle installation, upgrades, patching, migration, and version management
Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and capacity planning
Implement and manage backup, recovery, replication, clustering, and DR strategies
Ensure data integrity, security, encryption, access control, and compliance standards
Proactively monitor databases and troubleshoot performance, availability, and latency issues
Act as a technical lead for database initiatives and best practices
Collaborate with application developers, cloud architects, DevOps, and infrastructure teams
Provide guidance, reviews, and mentoring to junior DBAs or engineers
Participate in architectural discussions and solution design
Automate routine DBA tasks using scripts, tools, and CI/CD pipelines
Manage and optimize cloud-based database services (AWS / Azure / GCP)
Support containerized and microservices-based architectures where applicable
7+ years of experience in Database Administration / Database Engineering roles
Strong hands-on expertise in one or more:
Oracle / PostgreSQL / MySQL / MS SQL Server
NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB (good to have)
Strong experience in:
Performance tuning & troubleshooting
Backup, recovery, replication & DR
Database security & access management
Experience with Linux/Unix environments
Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Scripting skills using Shell, Python, PowerShell, or similar
Experience working in Agile / DevOps environments
Experience with cloud-native DB services (RDS, Aurora, Azure SQL, Cloud SQL, etc.)
Exposure to CI/CD tools, Terraform, Ansible, or Kubernetes
Prior experience in a Lead / SME role
Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills
