The Instructional Designer creates engaging learning activities and course content, collaborates with experts, and applies instructional design best practices.
The Instructional Designer is responsible for creating engaging and effective learning activities and compelling course content in cooperation with subject matter experts from the FME business, regionally and potentially globally. This position is one of a team supporting Learning Service Delivery within a Regional Learning Delivery hub or centre and supports the Global Learning Service Delivery Strategy.
Tasks
- Apply best practices in learning technologies and instructional design • Work with subject matter experts to identify required learning outcomes and target learner populations.
- Identify the most appropriate and effective delivery mechanisms (e-learning, virtual classroom, face-to-face etc.)
- Set instructional end goals and create content that matches them
- For e-learning. visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product
- Provide learner interactivity (exercises, activities etc.) that enhance the learning process and learner experience
- Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games, etc.)
- Devise modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of the course and attainment of knowledge and other specified learner outcomes.
- Identify poor quality and/or outdated learning content and offer recommendations for improvement or replacement.
- Ensure the alignment of new content implementation as required. Including identification prerequisites and related/interdependent courses as defined by curriculum requirements.
- Maintain project documentation, version control and course folders
Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models • Lesson and curriculum planning skills
- Working knowledge of multiple web design technologies (HTML) and multi-media formats (jpg, mp4, mp3)
- Visual design skills (e.g. Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio and video scripts
- BA or MA degree in instructional design, educational technology or similar relevant field
- Certification in Instructional Design (preferred)
