OVERVIEW
The Platform Architect, Microsoft is a critical role within Digital Foundations group of General Mill’s D&T (Digital and Technology) organization. This role specifically focuses on the Microsoft platform and its comprehensive integrations across the enterprise. Solutions include projects and products, systems (applications, processes, data and technology), shared infrastructure services and shared application services. They are accountable for driving clarity, enabling enterprise agility, and mitigating risk within and across all domains.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide architecture leadership and consultative guidance as an individual contributor across Microsoft enterprise initiatives, translating business needs into practical, supportable solutions.
- Make architectural decisions for Microsoft 365 and related platform services, ensuring solutions are aligned to enterprise architecture principles, governance, security, and roadmap direction.
- Develop near-term architecture strategy and solution direction for the Microsoft landscape, including dependencies, sequencing, and technical feasibility for successful delivery.
- Review and guide solution blueprints for Microsoft 365 workloads, providing strategic direction to implementation teams and ensuring consistency with standards and best practices.
- Design enterprise-scale solutions across collaboration, identity, security, compliance, automation, and end-user computing domains, with strong focus on integration with connected systems.
- Define architecture patterns for identity and access management, authentication, authorization, directory synchronization, external collaboration, and hybrid Microsoft environments.
- Partner with cyber security, compliance, and business stakeholders to ensure solutions meet requirements for data protection, threat protection, retention, legal hold, governance, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead architecture considerations for Power Platform, Microsoft Graph APIs, PowerShell automation, licensing governance, and Microsoft 365 operational efficiency.
- Support merger, acquisition, and divestiture activities by defining integration and separation approaches for Microsoft platform services and user productivity environments.
- Stay current on external Microsoft trends and emerging capabilities, and influence internal teams by bringing forward relevant recommendations, risks, and opportunities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- BE/ B.tech. Any graduation or above.
- 12+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, platform architecture, or solution architecture with significant focus on Microsoft platform and ecosystem
- Deep expertise across Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Entra ID.
- Strong experience architecting enterprise-scale Microsoft platform implementations in complex, global environments.
- Demonstrated experience making architecture decisions across collaboration, identity, integration, automation, security, compliance, and end user computing domains.
- Brings a strategic mindset while remaining grounded in operational realities and implementation feasibility.
- Builds trust and credibility across architecture, engineering, operations, cyber security, and business teams.
- Challenges constructively and influences with clarity, courage, and sound judgment.
- Proactively identifies risks, dependencies, and opportunities and drives practical mitigation plans.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with broader enterprise integration patterns across HR, ERP, collaboration, security, and productivity ecosystems.
- Experience with Microsoft Power BI for governance reporting, operational dashboards, or platform insights.
- Familiarity with cloud monitoring, observability, and advanced reporting solutions for Microsoft environments.
- Understanding of Zero Trust principles and their application across Microsoft collaboration and identity services.
- Exposure to AI-enabled Microsoft capabilities such as Copilot, automation intelligence, or emerging productivity services.
- Experience evaluating vendor products, platform TCO, and roadmap trade-offs.
- Knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies including agile, DevOps, and iterative delivery approaches.
