Job Description

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

At Barclays, we don’t just adapt to the future – Embark on a transformative journey as OneReg Dev Lead - VP, where you'll spearhead the evolution of our Market Post Trade function by overseeing the development and drive the reporting deliveries within Markets Post Trades. This is a hands-on role which involves ensuring Barclays’ compliance with reporting regulations related to different asset classes. The position is part of a global team, requiring collaboration with teams across EMEA,AMER and India. The Dev Lead will be accountable for all aspects of development and architecture during implementation, aiming to simplify process flows. Your key responsibilities will include assisting in requirements analysis for system enhancements, translating business requirements into functional specifications, and leading the technical architecture across various regulations. You will guide the application architecture towards resilience, scalability, and performance, providing technical leadership to the OneReg team. You will design and prototype user-centric components, develop quality Java code, and work with Autosys, Unix, and Perl scripts. Additionally, you will ensure code meets company standards, perform SQL query tuning, and conduct peer reviews to optimize application performance.

 

To be successful as a OneReg Dev Lead - VP, you should have experience with:

  • Proven experience in core Java and Enterprise Software development.
  • Strong experience in Multithreading, Memory management, and high-volume data processing.
  • Proven experience in driving architecture and performance of large-scale, resilient applications in the Markets/Investment Banking domain.
  • Strong knowledge of RDBMS (SQL Server/Oracle) and significant team management experience.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree with relevant experience.
