Job Summary
Synechron is seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer to join our quality assurance team. In this role, you will develop, execute, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts to ensure the delivery of high-quality software products. Your expertise will support functional, regression, and API testing efforts, and you'll collaborate with development and QA teams to improve testing processes, reduce defects, and accelerate release cycles. This role is critical in maintaining the organization’s focus on quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Software Requirements
Required: Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, Maven, Jenkins, JIRA, Git (version control), testing frameworks (JUnit, Cucumber)
Preferred: Test automation tools like Swagger/OpenAPI, REST Assured, LoadRunner, or similar; API testing tools and database testing tools; automation scripting tools (Python, SQL scripting)
Experience Level: 5+ years of hands-on experience in automation testing for enterprise-grade applications
Overall Responsibilities
Design, develop, and execute automated test cases for functional, regression, and API testing to verify application quality
Maintain and enhance automation frameworks, ensuring reusability, scalability, and adherence to best practices
Troubleshoot and debug automation scripts, identify root causes of failures, and implement fixes
Collaborate with developers, product managers, and QA teams to understand requirements and improve testing coverage
Review manual test cases, provide feedback, and recommend test case optimizations
Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to facilitate continuous testing improvements
Develop performance and load testing scripts to verify app scalability and stability
Maintain detailed documentation of test scripts, defect reports, and testing procedures
Technical Skills (By Category)
Programming Languages:
Essential: Java, TestNG, Selenium WebDriver
Preferred: Python (for scripting and integration), Cucumber (BDD framework)
Databases/Data Management:
SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar), ability to perform data validation and query testing
Cloud Technologies:
Basic knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) for testing deployment scenarios (preferred)
Frameworks and Libraries:
Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, REST Assured, Swagger/OpenAPI, Cucumber, LoadRunner (preferred for performance testing)
Development Tools & Methodologies:
Git, Maven, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), TDD/BDD practices
Security & Protocols:
Understanding of API security standards (OAuth2, JWT), best practices for secure test automation
Experience Requirements
5+ years of experience in automation testing for enterprise applications
Proven expertise in developing Selenium and TestNG frameworks, along with API testing tools
Strong knowledge of database testing, data validation, and defect tracking
Experience working in Agile teams, participating in continuous integration, and handling defect management
Industry experience in finance, healthcare, or large-scale enterprise environments preferred; alternative experience in similar sectors is acceptable
Day-to-Day Activities
Develop and maintain automated test scripts for functional and API testing
Support manual testing efforts where automation is not feasible, ensuring complete test coverage
Troubleshoot and debug automation scripts, identify performance bottlenecks, and optimize test execution
Collaborate with developers, QA, and DevOps teams to integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines
Conduct regression tests, analyze results, and report defects with detailed documentation
Review manual test cases for potential automation and suggest improvements
Participate actively in sprint planning and team retrospectives to optimize testing practices
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; relevant professional experience accepted
5+ years of experience in enterprise automation testing, with a focus on web, API, and database testing
Certifications in ISTQB, Cypress, or other testing tools are a plus
Demonstrated ability to develop scalable test automation frameworks and scripts
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
Proactive mindset with enthusiasm for continuous learning and process optimization
